Now here's something somewhat related to the Ace v2 issue:
I think most people consider Mercer v1 and Mercer v2 as being the same guy, despite the vastly different filenames and birthplaces ("Felix Stratton" and "Spencer, West Virginia," for the former; "Richard Cecil" and "Richmond, Virginia" for the latter) as well as slightly different affiliations (v1 was a member of Sgt. Slaughter's Renegades, v2's filecard mentions that he was a former member of Sgt. Slaughter's Marauders). I consider them the same guy, myself (just easier that way). Any theories as to why most Joe fans (of the ones I've talked to here on the 'tank and elsewhere) consider them to be one and the same guy despite all the glaring differences? Do you consider one a cover identity? Some sort of "witness protection" program identity change-up? Did this ever get brought up in the later comics for a No-Prize? In my verse, Mercer along with Chuckles, and Rourke and probably a few others were sent undercover to penetrate the Cobra organization. Got too hot for Mercer so they had to pull him out. Hawk didn't say anything at first. Later we discover Mercer worked with Hawk before in Delta Force, as one of his Team Sgt. He is basically a bigger badass than most of the Joes.

I use him as part of Action Force that is assigned to the Joes. He's a Captain in my verse. Terrible Codename. I'd change it but I'd just forget what it is.

I tend to think of Action Man as Action Force's version of Joseph "G.I.Joe" Colton. They're both originally "generic/troop builder"-style Hasbro figures from the 1960s who were redesigned as individual "named" characters. His filecard does say he's based in Europe, so I think the Action Force angle works (and his goofy codename juxtaposed with the Action Force team name parallels Joe Colton's own codename and its relationship with GI Joe; i.e., Action Man : Action Force :: Joseph "G.I.Joe" Colton : G.I.Joe). Maybe he's Action Force's lead counterintelligence guy.

EDIT: Some digging in an obscure wikia revealed this little nugget: Action Man actually appeared with the latter-day Action Force in a direct-to-video animated movie entitled Action Man: X Missions. The whole thing has been uploaded in parts on Youtube. Last edited by zuludelta; 05-10-2011 at 12:56 AM.. Reason: added links |

Great Questions.
I'm currently putting together a CID team. Sure-Fire, Chuckles, Low-Light, Agent Faces, Mace, etc. I use Psyche-Out with my Green Berets. He's also the X-O for my Night Force Team. He's Psy Ops... I served with 4th PsyOps Group (Airborne) at Ft. Bragg, so for me, Psyche-Out is pretty cool. Do you have a custom for Psyche Out or do you use one of the released figures? |

Anyway, I have him figured for an MI-6 Operative, who was selected from the SBS/Royal Marines. Probably an Oxford grad. He's like James Bond with more commando-style action and less Tuxedos. His skill level would be on par with those in the Super Trooper program - that's the very top of the line in my Joeverse. I gave him a rank of Major.

My Mace figure will be pretty simple, but it will get rid of the yellow.

Yeah, I do use Action Man. I used to watch the cartoon show every now and then. Well, let me be specific, I like the "idea of Action Man" but I haven't been able to come up with a better Code Name for him yet. I figure he needs a name that sounds pretty British.

Go to the following site:
Last Name Popularity - Origin, meanings and more | WhitePages It uses phone directory data, so I'm unsure as to how well it reflects surname popularities overall (to include people who don't have phones or people who are unlisted in the phone directory), but I figure it provides a good ballpark estimate as to how the actual popularities rank. |
