Agreed it was very cool, unfortunately it seems to me that the club just wants to make money by doing short runs of whatever figure/set so that they will then be rare/expensive. I'd far prefer a club that simply wanted to get out large quantities (at reasonable price) of whatever people were actually after, but that's a problem with the club not being a part of Hasbro. End of rant, and sorry!

Cool find! Mine is still boxed up somewhere in my grandparent's attic (I think). All I can remember for sure was that he was in the Air Force (nod to my dad) and that his codename was Phoenix.
IMO this was one of the coolest things Hasbro ever did with the line. I wish they would bring it back (along with flag points). Maybe the club could offer it? So you could pick a face that matches your own, and choose the parts, like say the torso and arms of POC SE, Beachhead's vest, Low-Light's ruck, Flint's shotgun, Snow Job's rifle, and so on. Pick a camo/paint scheme from a list like this: Night Ops (black), Jungle Warfare Camo, Arctic Camo, Desert Camo, etc. Then we write the file card in the class style (PMS, SMS, Grade, Birthplace, Schools/Training, main bio and personal quote) and Hasbro would put it on a classic cardback. How cool would that be! Last edited by Tanksmasher; 05-07-2011 at 02:13 PM.. |

If I could go back and redo the file card, while staying within some of the parameters outlined in the mailaway application, it would look more like this:

I filled out the thing for the SB figure and I never received mine. I don't remember what I named him or what his filecard stuff was.

Thanks, Topside.
Loose, what was the one for the Reservist? Was it a multiple-choice application like the one for SB or something different? |

It was somewhat multiple choice but I don't remember the personal traits part. I thought it was like fill in the blanks. I was given a rank but I don't think you choose that either. I didn't bring it with me.

Don't know if this has been addressed before in this thread, but what do you guys make of Ace v2?
He seems to be a different character from the original Ace, as he has a different filename ("Wendall Armbruster") and birthplace ("Seattle, Washington"). The original 1983 Ace's filename was "Brad Armbruster" and birthplace was "Providence, Rhode Island." And while Joes' "jobs" can and have changed with subsequent releases, I think the difference in their specialties (the original Ace was a fighter pilot, Ace v2 was a helicopter pilot) is pronounced enough that the case can be made that they're two different characters. Anybody know definitively if this was some sort of mistake, a deliberate attempt to rewrite the 1983 character's history, or a new character altogether?
