All credit goes to CG23....but I still think the info should be taken with grain of salt...from a 90's era 12 inch cobra commander figure. |

Didn't want to hurt international marketing?
Which may be why they're not being so specific now, not wanting to "offend" anyone internationally? Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm wondering how the 'Nam references were able to survive. 'Nam was, and still is, a pretty controversial topic. |

'Nam was good until Marvel decided to show the Punisher's time in 'Nam.

Hey, I finally got my Tiger Force Outback in the mail. Shipped from the UK. I've been waiting for this fig for a long time. Probably the coolest, though far from realistic, Joe I've seen. I've always loved Outback and finally got the international version. And he's complete except for the flashlight...and the the strap on his gun was cut off. But the paint is in really good condition.

I loved that they replaced "Survive" on his shirt with a tiger face. That was pretty cool.

You know, if somebody had said, "I have an idea. That's make another Outback but in a bright orange t-shirt with a tiger face and we'll give him white hair," I would have thought wtf. But he's just a fantastic looking piece. It's like he's taunting the enemy to spot him while he's out working in the bush. Kind of like Carlos Hathcock, who would wear a white feather in his hat when he was out sniping.

Well...My mother is filipino and my dad is white. They when he was a Marine service in Japan. Our last name is Blackburn. I don't look like someone who would have such a germanic/anglo-saxon last name. Could be that their Fathers were soldiers stationed abroad married women from ancient martial arts blood lines. Explains the white-eye names and the asian appearence/ family background.
See now that's a story! Mines very similar. Dad was a Marine stationed in San Juan, and I too ended up with a very German last name. But we don't have Puerto Rican Ninjas. Kind of like Firefly. Although I'm confused how Vietnamese, French or Japanese he is suppose to be. |
