Not as bad as the late '90s, but not as good as the originals.
Saw Duke's real quick the other day, hoping to grab one tonight so maybe (if get one) I'll scan it up.

Could very well be a "prove I can." That I can agree on.
Negative on the reenlisting. If someone "retired" went to school then reenlisted, in the Army - anyways - then (even if he was Jump Qualified) he would still have to do Boot if he was out too long. Best case is he'll have to go thru AIT for what ever MOS he is going for. Just because he has a degree doesn't mean squat if the military could care less....remember this is the same military that would rather pull half the teeth in your mouth out instead of fill a cavity. But let's say Mainframe an E-5 in the Army...decided to stay in the army instead of go to the marines. Went to school parttime and lets say he's been in 10 years and his contract is about to expire. He can retire (ETS) or reenlist (reup) for another 10 years. And he re-ups without leaving the service for a day: then he won't have to redo boot. If he changes MOS...he will have to go back to MOS school (AIT) as "prior service" skipping boot. If he wants to cash in on his degree and become an officer he will need to go to OCS. If he left the service even for a short time...the likelihood of having to repeat everything again becomes higher the longer he is out. So unless he does ROTC or have it written into his contract that he will be sent to OCS immediately after any extra train he need to redo then he will continue to be enlisted. The army only give automatic Officer rank for a limited number of fields. Medical, Chaplin, Avaition (i think, for those with piloting skills). Oliver correct me if I am wrong but these are my experiences when I was in the service.

As far as Mainframe is concerned, I don't know. I tend to think he had something to prove. Marine Basic Training is supposed to be the hardest basic training, and the Marines make every recruit go through their basic training as a sort of right of passage. It's a big deal for them to earn their EGA (Eagle, Globe, and Anchor). So, after having served in Vietnam as an Airborne Infantryman, and gone to MIT, it might have just been a challenge for Mainframe. Something for him to prove to himself.
I found all the Resolute figures the other night. The Cobra Trooper is really cool. I also really like the new Duke. He's the best I've seen since Night Force Duke.

Wow, that was quick. Used to take YoJoe awhile to update, they've been doing it pretty quick last month or so.
YOJOE.COM | Filecard Gallery - Duke (version thirty) 2nd look, it's as bad as the late '90s. No military schools/qualifications at all. I don't like it. It's actually kind of corny and cheesebally. As far as figures go, the Duke is very cool looking. Best Duke ever.

Agreed. That's a weak filecard. It reveals essentially nothing about the character, personally or militarily. I always loved how Duke's original filecard actually gave years, which I think was kind of rare. Saying he enlisted in 1967 and turned down a commission in 71 grounded him in history in a strange way. The more recent filecards seem to want to have a more timeless feel to them at the expense of quality in many cases.
Yeah, they're combat soldiers, so where did they see combat? But the new Duke's card sucks. All it says is "he's a good leader".

Wow, the Resolute Cards are @$$tastic...
For me (and obviously lots of others) a big part of the Draw of GIJoe was the file cards and how Fantasy and reality intersecte, with the real places, schools and historical events...
