I feel the same way sometimes. I look at the earlier figures from the modern line and can't help but think how uninteresting they've become compared to the current waves. I started buying selectively when ROC came out because many of the character designs just weren't that appealing and I feel even more so about the vehicles. In fact the most exciting vehicles to have come out were the Rattler and the new Skystriker.
Of the new waves coming out, I'm only interested in maybe 30% of the figures. |

WOW, guys. What is going on with this thread? It's like everyone's morale is really low. Guys, it's like a week before Joe Con! We're probably going to see some amazing stuff. 30 for 30!

When the 25th/ME figures came out, I was in love. I loved everything about them and couldn't imagine getting a better 'Joe product. It was the best 'Joe had ever been, in my opinion. Needless repaints (and by needless, I mean crazy colored comic book and cartoon versions, not subsets that previously existed like Tiger and Night Forces) and lazy kitbashes began to damper my enthusiasm, but I was still really into it. Then ROC killed it COMPLETELY. I had no interest whatsoever in that line. Then we get POC and the designs are fresh and amazingly articulate, detailed, and weaponized. I feel like you can't even stand them next to some of the 25th collection because they make the 25th guys look... bland by comparison. However, even given the freshness of the new designs, still only select few even appeal to me. I'm getting some of the figs from the Convention set, and still REALLY want a carded Dial Tone from GIJCC (and eventually the Zarana SDCC exclusive). But after that, I'm beginning to consider returning to o-ring collecting for the Vintage aspect of it. Like Stormgard, I'm really into collecting the TPBs of the original Marvel series, though. I'm loving that.

Oh, I'm still looking forward to new stuff but I think the deluge of figures dilutes the enjoyment of the hobby. It's odd, but I feel like I enjoy my collection less, the larger it gets. I love the commando SE, Dusty, Jungle Duke, Low-Light, Shadow Tracker and some others and I hope we see more classics like Crazylegs and Steel Brigade. I'm really hoping for an Airtight and Lifeline actually. I think I'm craving some of those traditional bold colors from the classic collection.

A strong infusion of classic-design characters would definitely re-ignite my enthusiasm as that's all I ever wanted to collect. I like some of the new looks, but don't "have to have 'em".

I have a feeling that the 30 for 30 is going to be full of 86 - 87 Joes.. as evidence of that , we have seen Crazylegs, Sci Fi and the Techno Viper....

I think you're right, and some of what we've seen looks great. I never cared that much for Sci-Fi back in the day but now he's just so nostalgic.
