Renegades Flint was the only figure mentioned that we didn't see in some form. Stalker, Sci-Fi and Storm Shadow weren't mentioned during the presentation but showed up in the press kit. Zarana wasn't mentioned in the presentation and showed up on the floor.
The Vipers have new wrists, so they fixed the old wrist issue.

So I just saw that AA had another issue up on the site. Looks like it has been out a while but I hadn't check it in a wow. I read the first one about the LRS and this one is about a medic. Not bad. There's a big "recruitment" message in there but the artwork is pretty good. AMERICA'S ARMY: EVERY DETAIL COUNTS - GRAPHIC NOVEL

Hey that's pretty decent. I read the first one. I can't imagine they will make too many of them, but it's as good as some Joe Comics and better than others. Seems like Borovia or something.

I was checking out the 2010 Desert Duke figure. On the filecard it says he carries a Shoulder-Mounted Dual Plasma cannon. When he fies it,wouldn`t he be hurting from the recoil?

this is strictly fictionally speaking but I dont think Laser/Plasma guns have a recoil. Maybe a bark and a jump but not much else.

Now that BCross brought up the crappy filecards of the ROC/POC age, any news on how the filecards are being improved? Content-wise?

As for a fictional plasma weapon, it's conceivable that if the weapon uses a very high-energy electrical arc to create and project plasma, the person holding the weapon might feel some very slight mechanical vibration in the weapon because of the strong magnetic field that accompanies the moving electrical charges. Granted, if you've ever used a handheld plasma cutting torch, you know that the magnetic field generated by its electrical arc isn't really strong enough to directly produce mechanical vibration, but maybe a fictional generator powerful enough to project plasma across long distances (such as that seen in sci-fi films and cartoons and comics) could create some palpable vibration. It wouldn't technically be recoil though, since it's not actually a balancing of the forward momentum of a projectile (there's no projectile in the first place!). I guess the question is really how the plasma is projected once it has been generated (plasma being ionised particles, and normally rather hot.) and therefore what recoil you get from that method (over and above the small effect caused by the mass of the plasma, which will be quite small.)
Photons have no mass, but they do have momentum, so I think you should theoretically experience some recoil effect (but it would be vanishingly small - you don't see lab lasers bolted to the ground to prevent them skittering all over the place when fired ;) ) |
