Keep in mind that it's still public in here, though, in case there's anything Troynos doesn't want to share in the thread.

I know Snow Job is classic. I know he's the original Joe Artic Trooper...
but when I think of the best Cold Weather trooper the Joes ever had, I think of Blizzard. He was the coolest (pardon the pun) figure they ever did for cold weather Joes, and one of the best figures period. He was awesome. He had the best sculpt, and the best accesories. Honestly, I think he should be up near the top of the list for ARAH Joes that need to be made into ME Joes.

And I know the Infractors troll this joint every now and then. And I wouldn't want Troy to get in trouble. Send a PM to tell the story if that's better, but I want to hear this.

In other news, Oliver, I know it's been awhile since the picture of the Claymore figure was released and I'm sure you've addressed this but we haven't talked in awhile but a Claymore figure with Magnum P.I.'s likeness? Was this figure made just for you? You must have gone out of your mind when you saw that. |

Snow Job, Low-Light and Torpedo would be the most interesting of the bunch, plus they open up room for lots of cool gear. Tunnel Rat would be badass, though, and I'd probably bite the bullet and start collecting these. Shockwave could offer a lot of great SWAT equipment and it would be cool to see Rock N Roll with an M60, feedable bandoliers of 7.62 mm rounds, some ammo cans, backpack, etc.

The defense that the Joe figures are more expensive relative to the level of execution because the characters are licensed from Hasbro doesn't fly... Hot Toys and Enterbay produce almost exclusively licensed content these days (and more expensive movie and video game licenses at that), and they manage to put out museum-quality sculpts and paint work that blow Sideshow's GI Joes away while still maintaining a similar price point (give or take $10 to $20). Hot Toys' Chris Taylor figure (licensed from the film Platoon) actually looks like it's worth $135... it wouldn't look out of place in a museum's Vietnam War diorama. Sideshow's Flint, on the other hand, at $125, looks like it's at least $40 over-priced if we're comparing the technical merits of the sculpt, paint, and outfit. If I could tell Sideshow what to do with the GI Joe license, I'd tell them to subcontract the actual production work to Hot Toys (Sideshow already distributes a number of high-profile licensed movie tie-in Hot Toys figures based on the Predator, Terminator, Iron Man, Thor, and Resident Evil film and/or video game properties so I'd like to see them do something similar with GI Joe) and have them re-do the figures already released (especially that godawful Flint and that blob on his head that they tried to pass off as a beret). The current Sideshow GI Joe figures look like they're Medicom-level in terms of quality... not bad at ~$80, but not upper-tier $100+ product. Last edited by zuludelta; 02-10-2011 at 06:04 AM.. |

Yeah Troy, if you wouldn't mind, count me in on that as well. In my experience, you've been one of the most even-tempered guys on this site. I can't imagine what problem you could have caused. So I'm really curious. But if you don't feel like hashing it all out, that's cool.
Lister, great to hear from you. Yeah, I could not have been more excited about the Claymore figure. And yeah, when it came out, I was like "Have they been reading my posts/threads?" I suppose - like Low-Light - I probably made more noise around the Tank about those 2 guys than anyone... surprizingly, the figure we're getting uses A LOT of the same parts I selected for my custom figure (I'll include the picture). Also, I cannot wait to get a good look at that headsculpt because it looks like it's going to be an homage to Tom Selleck... which is exactly what I've been saying ALL ALONG! It's freaky. It's like the Club has been reading through our posts on this thread and they were like, "Yeah, this 'Oliverbox' guy is on to something about Claymore! He's got it figured out. Yeah, Tom Selleck IS the perfect choice!". So, I couldn't be more excited. I'm probably going to try to get on ebay as soon as he's available and buy a few extra Claymores just so I can use the head for a few Tactical customs. Basically, when the figure was revealed I honestly thought they had been reading my posts. I felt a little bit that way when Hasbro show us Low-Light, but a lot of guys wanted Low-Light. With Claymore, however, I honestly think they were reading my stuff. Thanks for noticing, my friend.

He is Jewish; and is one of the few Joes where religion is mentioned at all. I think Lifeline is the only other Joe I know whose religion is mentioned. Well, Budo is obviously Bhuddist, and Storm Shadow and Jinx probably are too. Snake-Eyes? Who knows....
In my Joeverse, with the obvious exceptions above, all the Joes are Christians of one denomination or another. That's just what happens when the Joe fan is a minister - he worries about their immortal souls. ;)
