Agreed, but the WZ551 is a Chinese vehicle. You don't see that much of the US forces using foreign equipment.

The regulations and laws that restrict the sourcing of US military materiél to American companies don't apply to many finished items (in most cases, the restrictions only apply to the procurement of raw materials such as lumber, basic foodstuffs, processed and unprocessed metals and such) and even then, they can be circumvented for any number of reasons. Of course, with standardization and inter-operability being important, a lot of the "foreign equipment" (again, whether or not something is "foreign" depends on how strict your definition is) in use by the US Armed Forces come from NATO member countries (Canada, Belgium, Germany, etc.) or non-NATO American allies (RoC/Taiwan, South Korea, etc.). The Joes using a PRC vehicle (outside of evaluation/OPFOR purposes) like the WZ551 would raise more than a few eyebrows, I agree, and acquisition would likely not get budgetary approval from Congress and maintenance would be a mechanic's and unit supply sergeant's nightmare, but I don't think it's that far-fetched an idea either, especially if it's a "captured" WZ551. The USAF's 6th Special Operations Squadron currently uses a pair of Soviet-era Mil Mi-8 helicopter gunships/transports for training and utility purposes, for example. Nice. I really miss the old M81 Woodland camo BDUs and the time when all the services wore the same camo patterns (it was either M81 Woodland or three-colour desert, depending on where one was). I can't remember which DoD official said it, but he said something like the current service-specific camo "rainbow" just looks ridiculous, especially during joint operations when there are multi-coloured/multi-patterned guys all walking around (it also has the unintended and potentially dangerous consequence of giving away basic order of battle information to the enemy).
I'm not saying that the US military should go back to using M81 and three-colour desert BDUs (since it turns out those patterns are pretty useless as camouflage against IR devices at night), but I think a unified modern digital camo scheme makes a lot more sense (budget-wise and logistics/operations-wise) than what's currently in use. Chances are a unified modern camo scheme for the US is never going to happen, though. Between service-specific acquisitions departments and corporate defense contractors, I think everybody's realized that there's just too much money to be made (at the taxpayer's expense, natch!) in keeping the service-specific camo system in place. Off the top of my head, they look like SOC-R boats (Special Operations Craft, Riverine). They're aluminum-hulled shallow draft craft designed expressly for use in inland waters.

Yeah, Special Operations Craft-Riverine. Operated by a crew of 4, these boats can insert/extract a team of 8 SEALs. Every amphibious Joe team needs one!
