Yeah, I'm basically going to make a ME style figure and update it to be a tactical SEAL. Shadow Tracker seems like a good place to start.

The WWII Naval Combat Demolition Units (NCDUs), the predecessor of the UDTs and the later SEALs, generally operated as 6-man teams. The guiding principle behind this was practicality more than anything... six guys and their equipment was pretty much the most that could fit in the era's small inflatable boats. The UDTs were later organized into 12- or 13-man assault teams (which could be divided into two smaller elements of six/seven men, led overall by an officer). I'm assuming that units would go back and forth between the 12-/13-man UDT assault team structure and the dedicated 16- to 20-man SEAL platoon as dictated by operational requirements, because there was a lot of overlap in personnel and function between the UDTs and the SEALs until 1983 (when the remaining UDTs were finally re-flagged as SEAL units) although AFAIK, nominally, SEALs have always been organized into platoons since their inception in 1962.
Keep in mind that the functional concept of a SEAL platoon is slightly different from an infantry platoon like you'd find in the Army or in the Marines. In terms of organizational flexibility, a SEAL platoon's sub-platoon element composition is rather fluid (it isn't as strictly tied to the fireteam-squad-platoon hierarchy as infantry platoons due to any number of reasons).

For a joint service unit like GI Joe, I'd go with a 4-man SEAL unit, since it would ease inter-operability with the majority of the Army and USMC Joes, most of whom have been trained to work in four-man infantry fireteams as the basic unit of organization.

Zulu always has the right answers.
I did a head swap with Build n Brawl Elijah Burke with the TRU Ripcord body for my Link. The Dreadlocks don't make sense but it's the best head I could find.

I really wish I could go back to 4-person teams. But that was so long ago. It's the Special Forces A-Team 6 person split-formation style for me. Since I like the CO/XO, OPS/AO&I, Weapons, Engineer, Radio, Medic setup. MARSOC & SWCC/SEAL Teams might be different slot setup, but for now 12 & 6/6.
Tho, on a SEAL Team, would Torpedo be a CWO or could we bump him up to his stand rank of "Lieutenant Torpedo"? Can SEALS be CWO?

Definitely. A Chief Warrant Officer SEAL is given the designation of "Special Warfare Technician" (CWO 715X).

You could always just use RoC Heavy Duty (the first one... the one that was in camo) as the basis for an updated Link Talbot custom figure. He's got the build for the role, at least.

In my Joeverse, My Marine Force Recon teams (4 man) and SEaL teams (4 man) work together alot.
For those newer folks to the thread, we all use custom figures cause as we know Hasbro just didn't follow a good organizational concept for the Joes and there are so many gaps in the structure. A good place for codenames that have some ties to the Joe history is Mark Bellamo's guidebook. He lists out all the choices that were options for codenames for the various figures.
