I think the ranks seem a little low. I know they're not the best of the best but the flaw in that is why would they be picked for a security detail ?
Wouldn't they have been picked specifically for certain skill sets and if so, how could they have cultivated those skill sets with such low ranks (meaning little years in, in service). |

I think Flint called Lady Jaye a Sergeant.

In terms of Lady Jaye, I thought NCO got saluted when soldiers were reporting to a board or a new command. I think they just got it reversed, since LJ is going to the team members instead of them coming to her. The ranks are a little low. I usually don't pay much attention to absolute ranks in the various Joe media. I look at relative ranks. Hasbro has never really gotten the ranks right. Back in the ARAH days, most of the Joes would be Spec Ops newbies. Nowadays, the direct entry programs can get someone operating as an E-3/E-4. I think Army Special Forces is the only program that has the automatic E-5 promotion. It has something to do with non-NCOs not being respected when giving briefs to higher ups (foreign and domestic). I'm sure one of the prior service guys can clarify or deny the NCO saluting exception.

Yeah Flint refers to her as Sgt Burnett.

I think they were picked precisely because of their relative inexperience and low ranks. Scarlett (and I'm pretty sure with Lady Jaye's collusion) was leading them under false pretenses. The infiltration into Cobra was an illegal mission, so it makes sense from a certain point of view that she'd want more junior soldiers accompanying her who wouldn't have the temerity to question the basis of the mission until it was too late.

I have a favor to ask of you guys.
If you get a chance, can you wander by this thread (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...l-answers.html) and vote? While you're there, check out the customs the guy has posted or go here (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...lance858a.html) to do the same. The guy's a really good customizer and I love the story, so I'd like to get some participation. You don't have to vote for me, just go vote.

I voted, although I 'm not sure what I voted for entirely. I saw his Awesome customs, but I didn't have time to read all the stories. Time to get into some more fan fic.

There was a contest incorporating his fan fic - you're basically voting on a winner at this point. I'm just trying to get participation up, since not many people were involved in the contest.
