You'll have to put them away and ration yourself with one new figure every week
I have the same thing when I buy from EBay, takes ages for stuff to turn up and then it all turns up at the same time. The other problem I have, which I've finally accepted rather than getting frustrated (whether it's buying a book or DVD because I'm interested in the topic, or Joes because I want to make some customs) is that my interest may well move on in the meantime, so I just have to just put them aside for when that particular interest comes back. I took the Resolute Arctic Duke head and put it on a PIT Trooper, now I have a tough looking Psyche-Out. I took the Resolute Beachhead body added the Comic Pack Ace head = Capt Grid-Iron Took the extra POC Beachhead Head (I bought 2) and put it on an extra Snake-Eyes(Like I don't have enough)=Banzai. i figure V1 banzai sort of sucked now he just looks a little better. Paris pursuit SE body, the extra Pit Commando head = Mace (I know he's a blonde but maybe he died his hair originally while undercover) That Resolute Beachhead head I put on my old Clutch body since I have a new Clutch with the new Vamp. This guy I'm calling Rollbar. (I actually use the ROC Rollbar as Countdown since he has that darker complexion) Still stuck with Storm Shadows-sssss

Nice Tanksmasher. I like the part of him being noticed by Keel-Haul. Where do Air bosses typically rank in the pecking order aboard an Aircraft Carrier?
What's Pri-Fly? (Never-mind Googled it!) But now it opens up to the 200+ officers on an aircraft carrier. Who is the most important enlisted man on an Aircraft Carrier? I once went on the USS Enterprise when it came to port, and we got a tour by a Master Chief. He down played his role on the ship. I think he was a Quartermaster type of guy. I wasn't sure I was like 11. But he seem to get a lot of attention from every sailor he passed through the ship. Loose, the Air Boss is essentially the Head of the Air Dept and a carrier has numerous departments (Weapons, Deck, Navigation, etc). The Air Boss and Mini Boss (his assistant) are ranked as Commanders (O5). The CO and XO of the ship are Captains (O6) and a Super CAG (O6) commands the Carrier Air Wing. The CAG and CO are considered equals and both report to the Commander of the Carrier Strike Group (CSG), who is a Rear Admiral. Although the Admiral typically works on the Flag Bridge of the carrier and is superior to the CO, he does not command the ship or air wing. The CO and CAG run them. The air wing has it's own chain of command that goes from the CAG to the deputy CAG to the Squadron Cmdrs. And below the ship's CO and his XO are the Department Heads, like the Air Boss, who are typically Commanders and Lt Commanders. But like an army brigade that has a Command Sgt Major as the head of the enlisted folks, the carrier has a Command Master Chief Petty Officer (E9). On smaller ships, this position might be held from someone smaller in rank, like a Senior Chief Petty Officer (E8). Maybe that MCO you spoke of wasn't the CMDMCO but he'd still demand some respect I'm sure. Right now I'm working on file cards for the CAG and CO of the Flagg. Nice Can't wait to see that. How many officers on a Carrier?

So I've been trying to come with a better codename for 'Major Altitude' (Robert Owens). I remember him having an anchor on his belt buckle, I'm placing him in the Navy. What do they call the helicopter's modified tricycle landing gear and hinged tail to make a smaller footprint on a ship? Would it make a good codename for him?

I remember Zulu had come up with Whirlwind I believe. I Like so I've taken that one. Plus it's easy to remember. I have no idea what the wheeled landing gear is called. Although Wheels-Up might nbot be a bad pilot code-name.

Whirlwind is good, I like that much more than Major Altitude (he's a Warrant Officer!). We should start a thread to keep track of re-names or characters that didn't have codenames like Hammerhead for Linc Talbot. Here. Last edited by Topside; 10-18-2010 at 11:45 AM.. |

Hey guys,
here's a question for a custom figure I'm working on, and I need some advice... Other than the head (which can be purchased from Slayer Design Studios), what can y'all suggest for a custom Green Arrow Figure?

Though I don't follow Green Arrow I'm assuming you'd want a fairly muscular torso so I'd probably go with one of the Resolute Snake Eyes. But POC Zartan might also work well depending on the style of Green Arrow that you want. Some parts have to be swapped out of course and Zartan's vest doesn't work but the hood could be usedful. The vest would be the hardest part to find. Maybe the POC Recondo vest could be modified but it's got too many pouches on it--you might want something sleeker. But Recondo's forearms with the sleeves could be used and POC Duke's upper arms would work nicely.

Here's a question for the FC experts:
I've been thinking about the Joe mountaineers like Alpine and Hit N Run and debating what sort of teams they would work best with. Alpine, I'd assume, would have arctic warfare experience due to the nature of his work. He's not just a rock climber but an high-altitude mountaineer, perhaps a pure alpinist, who would need to know how to survive and fight in harsh polar conditions. Hit N Run doesn't quite strike me as an arctic warfare fighter but his secondary specialty is mountaineering so you'd think the two go together. But I still prefer to keep him with an air assault unit--he just seems better equiped for rappeling or fastropping out of helicopters. He might also make a great PJ. Just wondering where you guys place him in your Joeverse. Same goes for Alpine. Are they soloists or small-team operators or do you merge them with your arctic specialists? Also, do you consider the arctic warfare specialists like Iceberg and Frostbite and Blizzard to have mountaineering training since it would prove quite useful in an arctic environment. The two types of training just seem to complement each other. Does anyone know if the 10th Mountain Division requires their units to undergo both moutain and arctic warfare training? |
