I hear you Tank. It seems like there isn't too much on the horizon that hasn't been touched. None of us has taken it upon ourselves to do a strictly Re-filecard Gallery Thread.
Maybe I'll start one today and ask everyone to resubmit any thing we may have done in the past to get it going. Two questions which I'm sure some of you may have given some thought to. 1. Does anyone plan on making Scarlet a Lieutenant as she will be protrayed in Renagades? 2. Do you think the Joes would be better served recruiting whole teams of specialist instead of one Marine here, one SEAL there, a couple of Green Berets sprinkled on top? I suppose we all sort of try to do this, and it can be sort of cut and dry when you put them together. But if a real experimental unit was being formed which teams would you want? Imagine they have endless budget and support to be deployed anywhere at a moments notice. Worldwide. I suppose I'd need a few teams of everything, but I suppose I'd get just one team each of the top units, and then I'd still end up with a cobbled together team of urban\Close Quarters Combat specialists.

1. I still like the idea of Scarlett as a 'dashed' Lieutenant, CWO-2 as the Executive Officer (What I believe her intended rank, responsibilities, and position of the current GI JOE IDW comic and the Sunbow Cartoon [with Duke as the Major/Captain] and I still think Marvel had that also in the first 22 issues under Hawk as Major, with Stalker as Top Sgt.
GI JOE RENEGADES: still sounds like they are regular army. Specially since the Joe team is E-2, E-3, E-4, E-5, O-1/2. And the Falcons could be elite, but Im not holding my breath. 2. I guess my question is will we using the idea of seasoned Special Forces of old? (E-5 / E-6 and up) Or the 'pipeline' style of today? After 2 or 3 years of training with no active experience. 2B. So far I believe in the seasoned troops of old. BGen Flagg, Pentagon Liaison [80's Marvel Pentagon Liaison] Col Sharp, Group Cmdr LtC Colton, Commander [1960'-70's Joe Cmdr] Major Courage, XO [Representation of 1960-70's Joe African-American Cmdr] SFC Friday, Clerk -3 OD-A Teams of Special Forces Army, -Hawk, Duke, Falcon -1 OD-A Team style USAF Special Tactics Team & Sky Patrol -Slipstream -1 OD-A Team Arctic/Desert themed, because of the uniforms, -Sub Zero -1 Marine OD-A Team -Cactus -1 OD-A Urban & Covert Team -Psyche Out -1 Naval Detachment (SWCC & SEAL, VBSS Team) The Ensign Cutter, and "SEA HAWKS" hydrofoil skyhawk's -Cutter -Heavy Fixed Wing Pilots -Rotary Wing Squadron (4 helo's) -Rhino/Jackhammer Crew -WO Trakker Still need an XO of Falcon's OD-A Team. I really dont want to use Charbroil as the mistaken Warrant Officer. I think rank is really polluted in entertainment anyway... Never really matching their age and responsibilities. Like Colonel Braddock in Missing In Action... maybe should've been a Major. Airwolf's Stringfellow Hawke a Captain in vietnam would have been like early 20's. They make the rank current age instead of flashback rank. Which hardly makes sense. Hollywood keeps on glorifying action with highest rank possible. Even Hasbro had their hands in rank errors during the beginnings of GI JOE. ie, Doc, Duke, maybe even Hawk, if he was considered Fury's son's age.

I tend to group my units together. Marines with Marines. Rangers with Rangers. SEaLs with SEaLs. CBQ guys with CBQ, etc..
It just makes functional sense. They share the same training and are trained for specific functions so they should serve those functions. I'm sure the Joes do some kind of cross training so the different branches can work together, but it still makes some sense to keep 'em seperate. I kind of like Scarlett in an XO kind of role. It just kind of suits her.

So I was watching an episode of Angel with my sister and in the 5th season. Wolfram & Hart has a 'Special Ops Unit'. The Team is led by an Agent Hauser.

See I'd love to see more of that. I want GIJoe to creep into every aspect of society. Like the other day I heard a lady I work with use the reference "And knowing is half the battle" I didn't say anything since I was sort of stunned. But then I realized, well she is the same age as me and she probably had brothers.
I miss the days when GI Joe was the biggest thing in toys. 82-84ish. The only rival they had those christmases was Cabbage Patch Dolls. Fogger posted that article where they mentioned that GIJoe single handedly brought kids back to comics. (I don't know how true that is, but I only collect Joe Comics.) There was a time when I also had a subscription to Capt America, Nth Man, West Coast Avengers, and Avengers. Not that anything is wrong with DC comics, but Since I was getting a subscription to GIJoe anyway, it was easy for me to add a few extra. I guess this is why I was so disappointed with ROC. Not that it was the most terrible movie, but just the fact it could and should have been sooooo much better.

I was flipping channels last night and they had a re-run of Freinds where Joey and Ross are singing the Joe theme to Ross's kid to entice him away from Barbie. Awesome stuff
Sorry haven't posted in awhile, still checking the site but things have been really busy. Been flying in and out of Melbourne and Canberra for weeks now. Also a few things have happened on other threads which has soured me a little. I should learn not to bother with the rest of the site. For every cool person there seems to be another two spoiling for a fight or at worst know so little of their own history, language or political landscape that they end up castigating us 'foreigners'. Anyway end of gripe. I've been trying to recreate my Joeverse into a real world structure that allows and involves every single figure, vehicle and playset made. I've done it, it's just makes the Joe org so freakin' big. About a brigade / group size with at least a Battalion sized support unit. I like the refile card thread, nice to see it's already attracting some new contributors. Thanks for that Loose. Hope everyone is well |
