Ah ok, I thought something had happened recently in the "GI Joe" comic that I'd managed to miss.
I've never really thought the different IDW comics were in any way linked, or at least I couldn't see a common thread so tend to separate them out in my mind. It's also rather hard to work out where each issue appears in any given timeline and therefore how they should be combined. |

Yeah it's not easy. Hearts and minds is also hard to follow. Like Interrogator is being watched by CC and Destro. Yet the main story has Destro in Siberia? What I miss?

IDW does seem to scatter its characters around. It would be nice if they developed a set of characters and then moved on to another set and stayed with them for awhile and then introduced some more while tying them all together. Unlike Marvel there seems to be a discontinuity in the overall storyline.

I was wondering with those of you that understand to help me out. The estimated 2013 date of a new transition from Divisions to Brigades as the main deployable self-sustained units.
How I understand this the Division unit will be non-specific and just be considered a general purpose division unit. With the Brigades/Regiments size will be deployable independant Infantry (Infantry, Airborne, Air Assault), Heavy and Stryker Brigades. Since each Brigade will have Battalions of Infantry, fires, armor, Cavalry Squadron, etc. Does that mean Brigade units will be re-established as individual numbered units and the end of these specialized Division designations? 1st Armored Div 1st Cavalry Div 1st Infantry Div 2nd Infantry Div 3rd Infantry Div 4th Infantry Div 10th Mountain Div 25th Infantry Div 82nd Airborne Div (Airborne) 101st Airborne Div (Air Assault) I still understand the aircraft rotary & Fixed wing will still be under Division Control, because its just not effective yet.

The Army has already transitioned to the modular brigade structure. If I understand your question correctly, the divisions have kept their numbered designations. The brigades can deploy independently, however. The 101st for instance has the following units:
101st Combat Aviation Brigade 101st Sustainment Brigade 159th Combat Aviation Brigade 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Brigade Combat Teams |

I guess what Im trying to understand is, with this new arrangement. Since the Brigade, not the Division, will be the specialized Stryker, Heavy, Infantry, Airborne, and Air Assault. With Divisions being general purpose command units that can command any modular brigade team and that Brigades wont be tied to a certain Division for a long duration, it will be modular. If this is the case, will they use a better identifier for individual Brigades? Since there will be 10 different 1st Brigade Combat Team, 2nd BCT, 3rd BCT, etc, etc? Since they plan to have 48 Brigade Combat Teams they might as well make them unique. Or maybe I'm just making this too complicated and the Army has it figured out?

So Im using POC Beach Head and 25th Cobra Flint as Pathfinder, without the vest, with goggles to simulate the glasses, as The Special Operations Weather Technician. His gear on his leg works great for weather equiptment. Just need to paint his beret grey.

The characters don't even seem the same. The H&M Tripwire isn't the same as the one we've seen in the main IDW books. Origins is better tied, that one can jump around the timeline because it's not telling concurrent stories to the main book. Cobra is the same way, we don't know where the stories take place along the timeline. But the whole "Cobra isn't real" thing from the start of the IDW main book is still a little odd, cause in Cobra, Hawk knows they exist but in the main book he was willing to court martial Scarlett to keep their existence a secret. Weird...

Agreed. I don't know what Brooks did to earn such a stand off approach with letting him kind of run with it, but besides the brief CC/Destro appearance (which would seem to indicate that the Interogator story takes place in the future), the H&M stuff is totally disconnected from the main stuff.

I really need to start reading my comics. I'm now so far behind and given that I get all DC / Vertigo / Joe and a dozen or more Marvel titles it's getting ridiculous (and expensive)
