Not sure why Cover Girl is there. She was on the ship and got invited on the Remora's maiden voyage.
I just see as many inaccuracies and "huh" moments in the new books as there were in the old stuff. So its easy to just let it slide... I read 'em for entertainment, not accuracy, lol I gave up hoping that any mass media Joe project would be accurate. It's not going to be because it's sole purpose is to sell to a as wide an audience as possible and for the most part the wider audience just doesn't care. Like the guys on the IDW forums, they don't care about it being military accurate, they more care about how it relates/compares to DDP and such.

Unless, of course, there's some yet-to-be-revealed plot reason behind the appearance of Cover Girl and Keel Haul there...? ;) |

No particular reason why they couldn't be accurate mind you (other than lack of knowledge/thought), which is what annoys me (same if I watch a film and see something that is wrong).

Still I was glad Keel Haul was there. But still some rank structure woould be nice even if Keel-Haul is a petty officer now and Scarlett is a Captain or whatever?

I agree. It's not like developing a chain of command and using rank would be difficult to manage. Some of the choices just seem so arbitrary. Why not use Tracker as a SEAL instead of Keel-Haul if indeed that's what he is now?

I've just had another read of the comic, and it reminded me of the two big problems I saw when I first read it: What do they think happens if you explode a lump of C4 (or indeed anything explosive) in a (relatively) incompressible fluid with a couple of compressible human bodies nearby. Squashed humans. Also the comment about hitting the bottom at 300mph is just plain impossible, perhaps it was a typo and they meant 30mph (which is certainly possible). Not sure whether this is supposed to be wrong (i.e. Shipwreck [I think] made a mistake), though it did sound like an authoritative statement on his part so you assume he's supposed to know what he's talking about.... |

I think choke that one up to "30mph doesn't convey the same sense of danger as 300mph"

Otherwise it just sounds like Shipwreck (I'm assuming it was him - I now realise why the Joes normally fight in their standard uniforms rather than all dressing for the environment, as it's rather hard to recognise them otherwise!) has no idea what he's talking about and is pretending that he does. That may of course be true ;) |
