I'll have to read the Hirsch book, Task Force Dagger was written by an ex Delta guy under the pen name Dalton Furey. Very cool book.

Pretty sure, the order is;
Tier 1 : CIA SAD (SOG), Delta, DEVGRU, ISA, 24th Special Tactics Tier 2 : Special Forces (Green Berets), Seals. MARSOC, USAF Special Ops Wings and Tactic Groups , PSYOPS, SWCC Tier 3 : Rangers, USN EOD Units, SF Capable Marine Units (CBIRF, ANGLICO) Not sure about the 160th SOAR they seem to fall in the middle of tiers 1 and 2 because they lend support to both tiers. |

Gentlemen, good discussion on the Tiers of Spec Ops.
But I wonder if I could interest any one of you in a discussion about Joe File Cards... namely Barrel Roll. Troynos, did your ears just perk up? Anyway, I made a discovery that I thought I would share with you... Lately, I've taken more of an interest in 12" figures. The Sideshow figures started my interest, but the more I investigated other deluxe 12", the more I wanted to do my own Custom 12" Joes - I'm working on Falcon as we speak... think Falcon in Afghanistan, in MULTICAM. I know, I know, you're all drooling now. Pics to come. Anyway, I got to looking at the 12" Joes they released with Spytroops and VvV about 6 or 7 years ago... and there was a 12" Barrel Roll (I'll try to include a pic). He's sort of an aquatic Paratrooper figure and he's definantly a sniper and an E-4, but the main thing is his branch of service: U.S. Air Force. The figure is wearing a USAF T-Shirt. And so this got me thinking... Could our suspicions have been right all along. Could Barrel Roll be a USAF PJ/CCT Sniper? Let's hear what y'all think.

PsyOps, Civil Affairs, and 160 SOAR are all 3rd Tier units. And you also need to as SOSCOM - U.S. Army Special Operations Support Command, which is also Tier 3.

I've always liked the idea of Barrel Roll as a CCT with a civilan pilots license.
Could it be possible that he's a member of the 18th Flight Test Squadron? To me, his flight and marksmanship skills would make perfect sense in this group as they evaluate and develop everything from combat rescue, operations, mission support, fixed wing, vertical lift, combat applications, instrumentation and special missions. |

I was genuinely excited when I saw this 12" Barrel Roll because it means that he's the only CONFIRMED enlisted airman that Hasbro has ever produced for the Joes. Bombstrike might be in the Air Force, but there's nothing in the file card to confirm it.
So to me, this was big. The Air Force has never had an enlisted airman in the Joes except for Barrel Roll. He's almost like Cutter. Now, if we could only get a Marine Corps Officer, we'd be doing well.

That's pretty sweet find Oliver. (I mean Barrel-Roll as an Airman) That confirms that in a way, since his only real mention of service is from DDP, but there he is referred to as Lt. Stall.
On a side note I just read Bombstrike's filecards and I feel a little woozy. Pure crap.
