Hmm, doesn't sound too good. I'm a few months behind my comics. Haven't got to these yet.
As an aside, has anyone else noticed how negative things are getting around the tank lately? I thought for sure POC would galvanize us as collectors but it just seems to have fractured the tank as much as ROC did. |

Well I'm gonna have to check this issue out as soon as possible because I'd like to know where Hama is going with this. I'm not going to defend it or criticize it until I've read the issue but I'm sorry that you took such offense with it, Oliver. Do you think Hama is really pushing an anti-conservative viewpoint?
I would encourage you to read the issue. It's so controversial that I think every fan should make up their own mind. I wouldn't want to form an opinion without looking at the source material. And I'll be very interested to hear what you think of it. If Mr. Hama wants to take issue with the immigration law, I'm OK with that. I'm all for an open discussion of current events in media and art, but I just really have a problem with handling it in this way. Snake-Eyes and Duke killing civilians is just beyong the pale of what's reasonable. There are far better ways for Mr. Hama to engage that issue. Making the Joes into murderers is inexcusable.

The negativity always goes up when new product comes out. Some tankers are never happy no matter what. I think the POC figures are a grand leap from ROC and the best thing that could have happened for GI Joe since the 25th anniversary. These are exciting figures, full of detail and with great accessories. I'm excited for the next wave.
As for me, the POC stuff is the best stuff we've ever gotten - at least since '87. The figures are top notch, and the vehicles are really nice. I actually REALLY like the new HISS. So I'm sorry that some are unhappy; I'm thrilled with the new stuff.

I couldn't agree more with you guys and it is certainly good to see this thread up front once again! I hope the hunt is going well for everyone with regards to the new POC wave 1! I like the design and direction Hasbro is taking with the fig's and vehicles they are releasing!

What's driving me crazy is that I've seen the first wave in stores but I haven't bought any of the figs except CC, Firefly and Alley Viper because I ordered the rest thru HTS but they still haven't shipped yet. They should have gone out by now. I'm tempted to just buy the others and cancel my order but it was a little cheaper to get them through HTS since I ordered them with my wolfhound.

Hey! Look who is here: Tall Creeper - one of our early Posters on this thread. It's like an old school classic just showed up. If Cold Slither showed up suddenly, we'ed be in business.
Yeah, I agree, Tall Creeper. I really like all the new figures and I like the vehicles. I would like it if we got some LARGE vehicles, but I know it's an investment for Hasbro and they have to be careful.

Oliver, there's one other point that I think we both share and that is: sometimes we want certain mediums to be apolitical. When I go to a concert, I don't want to hear the songwriter go on about how he hates this president or that senator--even if I agree--because I came to the concert to listen to music, not hear a political diatribe. Same goes for comics.
Unless the artist has always been political in his work and that work is politically driven or inspired, I'd rather ingest such political viewpoints elsewhere. I completely understand those who want Hama to stick with the simple Joe vs Cobra motiff but then again Hama may be striving to create a more complex, multi-layered, more adult story that addresses current events. Who knows what message he's sending. Perhaps he's trying to turn the Joes into controversial figures for the sake of drama and not politics. Who knows for sure. I'd like to hear his comments. That would be interesting. Maybe that could be a question you send him on Facebook.

Yeah, I want to troop build Alley viper and the new Jungle viper. The POC sculpts are amazing. I love the amount of gear each figure comes with. I just wish they'd fix the filecards ;) Has anyone got any of the Mechs yet? I'm thinking about army building them. Maybe 4 of each. I'd build more but the shipping cost to Oz is what kills it for me. Speaking of army building, I got a few of the new Dusty from Wave 2. i plan on building a few with the swapped heads. He makes a great Desert Green Shirt type. |
