We (the mods) can create the thread with a bunch of placeholder posts.
Will this be open to genpop or not? There are alot of guys that don't post here that have done good filecards in the past or currently.

Yeah, I say open it up too, might as well be inclusive
Regarding commentary, what's the best way to handle that? Separate thread for all comments, or (no idea how much hassle it might be) produce a sub-forum and let people post new threads with the filecard in the first post, then let people comment afterwards. |

It will probably be mostly us commenting anyway. I just feel like fair voting is the most important aspect.

So if we're going to let everyone vote on them in a poll fashion, that means only 10 entries per thread as Loose brought up. But then there's no need to list criteria for evaluating the cards--people will just choose what they like based on their preferences. So I say a judge like Zulu or a small panel of judges who appreciate the intricacy and complexity and balance we're looking for in the file cards.

What about a voting thread in which each member can add one post (1st one counted) containing e.g. 5 ordered votes for their favourite filecards?
The thread could be closed at the end of voting and then we can tot up the totals, using whichever of the myriad voting systems people think appropriate ;) |

I think you can only have so many images to look at at once. Maybe have a link to a separate thread for each category. It would be nice if the polls allowed for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd vote, but we don't have that many cards to pick from anyway.

Just to take this off-topic slightly.
Ive gotten closer on my Company Joe-verse, to the four 9-man squads in a Platoon. Ive even been able to break them down to two fire teams per Squad. My 1st Platoon [regular infantry] is shaping up nicely. But my 2nd Platoon [Navy/Marines] still only has 3 Squads of 6 or 7 man squad, and 3rd Platoon [Urban Force] also has 3 Squads of 6 to 8 man squads, But when the 6 man 'Medic' squad is disolved and redistributed into their active roles as platoon medics it makes it a small 18 person Platoon. Now I'm really seeing the problem with a motor pool. With only the 1st Platoon in "Fire Team" Convoy assignments, the order is for 8 VAMP Mark IV's. I plan on buying 2 Vamp's and 2 AWE Strikers and a Wolfhound. With the space constrants with all my other hobbies, I really need that convoy in 1:64th or 1:87th scale. -I know some things dont fit, but it's better than the card guessing they do today, or the card editing they did in the 80's. Only green shirts are the Color Guard E-4, E-5 and one E-6. Basic trooper is a Staff Sergeant, or Eq. E-6. Team Leader a Sergeant 1/C or Eq. E-7. Squad Leader a Master Sgt or Eq E-8, (2nd & 3rd Plt have one E-9 each) Platoon XO a Warrant Officer Platoon Leader a Captain or Major Company Top shirt a Sergeant Major Company XO a Warrant Officer Company CO a Major possibly a LtCol. So, here the early 1982-83 differences that Ive found with card/comic books debates between Hama and Hasbro... -DOC Medic/Specialist or Doctor/Captain (Major Rex Lewis aka TV DOC) -STEELER Tank Driver/Sergeant or Tank Commander/2nd Lt, -BREAKER Communications Officer, PFC or Corporal, -HAWK was he originally a Colonel or something lower? He was Colonel Nick Fury's son to begin with. Where was his Jet training in Marvel Issue 3 from? Was he a really a Marine pilot? or was it based on Army Air Corps from the 40's. or was it his Super-hero abilities? Should he have been a Major? -STALKER an E-5 Sergeant after 12+ years in the Army, I think he should have been First Shirt. -DUKE First Sergeant or Company Commander. I still contend he's was an afterthought of what Stalker and Hawk was already doing. But with Stalker so low, and Hawk so high, they needed damage control. What do you guys think?

I think a unit as unique as the Joes would probably operate in smaller squad/platoons. A 18-24 man platoon would probably work. It depends on what you envision them doing.
A standard 45 man Platoon like the movie "Platoon?" (I always like this set up.) Then there is the more 5-8 man LRRP team set up. Each team can break up into smaller teams of 4. 32 men would be ideal in this team but 3 a squad platoon might work. But it sounds like you don't have enough Joes. I tend to lay mine out and break'em up into even teams. But it always seems wierd since I have 16 generals in my joe force. I usually break them up into 4 groups. Colton=Special Ops (Airborne) Patton=Armor/Cavalry/Artillery Keel-Haul=Naval/Air Forces/Jungle(Marine) Sharpe=HQ /Intelligence/Urban Each general has 3 more Generals under him that take over one of the various roles.
