Yeah it's too bad. I think the Filecards are such an important part of the story, but I doubt anyone besides a few care. Although I doubt other toy packages have as much worth as a cardback with a filecard on it.

Wesley Snipes is who I always envisioned. Tough, strong, quick and agile. I don't think of Stalker as being overly friendly.

I don't know about any official stats for average size/weight. However, Marines are known to spend a lot of time in the gym lifting weights. They're on board the ships a lot, and a good portion of their day is spent lifting weights. There are some big guys in the Corps. In some of the documentaries I've seen, MARSOC has all kinds of size guys. They all stay very fit, but a lot of different heights and body thickness.
Army Special Forces - those guys are BIG. As part of their job every day, they life weights. Small/average size guys are the exception. Surprizingly, they can also run fast. These guys are athletes. I've seen them run at Ft. Bragg - it's like watching a group of Vikings come blazing by you. It's impressive Eric Haney said that Delta was pretty average sized. Not a lot of BIG guys, but there were a few. Endurance is the main thing - I expect is similar in the SAS. Quote:

Well, Duke only seems overexposed to us because we've followed G.I. Joe a lot closer than the average person. But I imagine from a Hollywood producer's standpoint, Duke seems like the perfect character to serve as a movie's focal point.
If RoC was supposed to be a relaunch for the Kids, they wouldn't have been expecting a character named "Duke" to have a central role. In the movie, Ripcord was the Special Forces Senior NCO. That's Duke's job. Old fans would have probably been fine if Duke had a less important role in the movie - he never had a big role in the comic. Quote:
I agree making Duke an officer didn't make much sense. But I doubt the thinking was "we need an officer character, let's make it Duke." It was probably more like "we need a central hero, Duke's the obvious choice." Making him an officer was most likely a secondary consideration.

I gave Shockwave and some of my SWAT/CQ Teams the M16 with shotgun attachement. The M16/M203 goes to the guys who partake in more conventional combat environments.
Sorry for the long post, you lot do too much talking while I'm at work! ;) |

What about the actor who does the Allstate commercials and plays a Sergeant Major or something of the show Unit? Where would he fit into G.I.Joe.

I liked him as President David Palmer on "24", but I didn't like him as SGm Jonas Blane on "The Unit". He's a big guy; he could play "Stretcher".

Filecards, and mainly the bit of background was a big thing for me - in fact just something being said in the filecard was more than enough to make a figure cool. Some figures looked cool (e.g. Beachhead) and in the UK his filecard had him as being a member of NZSAS on secondment to the Rangers (which made him fundamentally much cooler than just being a Ranger, sorry chaps). Same figure, different bit of story; perhaps I'm just easily swayed ;)

Really, let's just forget Duke. All American hero is what I see when he's about, which while not so bad in small quantities, doesn't sell well to the non-American crowd (or at least me; and he wasn't a big player in the comics, so I'd far prefer Stalker as the chief NCO)

More and more, the U.S. military 5.56 round is being considered for replacement. There's a lot of talk about going to a newer 6.8mm round. In testing, it's performed a LOT better.

Well, I just read the wikipedia article on the New Zealand SAS - the allow females. Look out Irish Rangers, it looks like you've got a bit of competition.

In one of the G.I.Joe Cartoon Episodes,G.I.Joe is about to be overrun by Cobra. Either Duke of Hawk put a call out for some help and Sgt. Slaughter shows up and runs off Cobra. Hawk says something about the Joes being out of shape and if Sgt. Slaughter
could stick around. The next scene has Sgt. Slaughter everybody out for exercise including Duke and Hawk. Before the G.I.Joe Filecards started dropping a good deal of their information, there have been a lot of other toy lines, that started off giving out a bunch of information on their characters and then dropping it all together. The Power Rangers and the Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtle are a couple that come to mind. |

That was in the Arise Serpentor Arise mini.
Slaughter even made Hawk run laps. The funny part was that they all did it in uniform. Hawk with his bomber jacket and Icberg in his arctic clothes.
