I always keep one in case of close encounters, why do you ask?

Alright, here's a question -
The weapons that the old figures originally came with, does that denote a real preference or expertise for that character. For example, Flint's sawed-off shotgun. Did he come with that because the character prefers that weapon? If so, why did Flint & Falcon both come with Shotguns? They're very talented, well-qualified characters - but do the shotguns mean that they're not the world's greatest marksmen? Last edited by Tanksmasher; 04-16-2010 at 02:54 PM.. |

Was it Billy in Predator who had the shotgun mounted underneath his M-16? That was pretty awesome. I could see the purpose in something like that. That's what Flint and Falcon should have, if they didn't want to carry a separate shotgun.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Lots of uses for it, but as a main weapon??
Give 'em a good weapon with an 'under' shotgun or a smaller one attached to the backpack. Flint's backpack already has some dynamite, why not a shotgun. Good call on Tunnel Rat. Shotgun would be perfect for him. For other scenarios shotguns might not be a great choice. |

It really just depends on how you envision their roles. As a helo pilot, a shotgun makes sense for Flint. As a recon member in the jungle, a shotgun also makes sense for Falcon. In fact, many LRRPs and recon SF carried sawed off M-79 with fletchette rounds for initial contact with the enemy. It was like carrying an ultra powerful shotgun. Besides, killing the enemy isn't always the point. Getting hit by something, even shotgun pellets, and hearing a big bang scares the hell out of people and can make them combat ineffective. Some weapons like LAWs, which aren't that effective at causing damage, are more useful as weapons of intimidation against troops than anything else, in addition to providing some anti-armor capability.
For other scenarios shotguns might not be a great choice. I agree with everything you're saying, which is why I think Flint and Falcon should have shotguns, but not as their primary weapons. They need assualt rifles. That's all I'm saying. Otherwise it begs the question: Are you Green Berets really that inaccurate with a rifle?
