I think the Marines are great - I just don't think they're the equivalent of the Ranger Regiment. I think they are more comparable to the Army Airborne Divisions (82nd, 101st, 173rd... and maybe the 10th Mountain) and I base that opinion on the P.T. standards and length of required training.
There are around 175,000 U.S. Marines (including the Reserves) - They can't all be the equivalents of Airborne Rangers. Infantry Marines can attack by sea. Airborne Army can come in by air. They have very similar physical requirements. The Marines are tough, but they're not the Rangers. Force Recon on the other hand... those guys are something else. I was refering to Sky Patrol...Sorry... |

When introduced in DDP's run, he's Lt. Stall.
If he's an Air Force pilot, he'd be Lt. Stall. Pilots are all officers, correct? I think Hasbro messed up the poor Stall family.

Helicopters.
Apaches, Comanches, the old Cobras, etc. No "fixed-wing" aircraft (airplanes or jets) in the Army... except a few to jump out of for the Golden Knights and Special Forces and Delta Force. Just small jump planes in those cases, for airborne insertions.

His pilot skills make me say Air Force.
But a pilot and a sniper? He's perfect as an Airborne Ranger, that just fits his usage and "job".

Yeah, I don't know if there's a "correct" way to do it. I guess, with the disparity of information, however it works best for you in your Joeverse, that's the way to go. There's strong evidence for both. I use Barrel Roll and Bomb Strike as Army. Barrel Roll is an Army sniper who gets sent in deep behind enemy territory by glider. Bomb Strike works for my Artillery Battery. I also would contend that every official Army "sniper" in G.I. Joe would be Ranger qualified. The Sniper school is at Ft. Benning (The Home of the Infantry - and Ranger School) and all the instructors are Ranger qualified. It stands to reason that Low-Light, Cross Hairs, and Barrel Roll (am I missing anybody?), if they're in the Army, would be Ranger qualified. What do you guys think..

I'm sorry, I'm sure I wasn't reading you right.
I think Skay Patrol could be used in a number of ways. Certainly as a Ranger Unit... like a LRRP team. I use them that way often. Skydive, the leader, was an instructor at Ranger School... his file card is very similar to Beach-head's I also kind of use them as my USAF Combat Controllers/PJ's depending on the mission requirements. I would say Sky Patrol is certainly as tough as the Raners... one of them is a certified Green Beret.

I've been using him as a Lt. Throwing him out as a corporal never sat right with me and when he was listed as an Officer I've used that.
