I mean within my imagination and the Joe-Verse I could just write it off as "he was briefed and trained on a S.H.A.R.C and that is that" Seriously though, it flies. He has to have some sort of aviation training. He's a diver, sub operator and pilot...it touches on nothing but his diving and reclusive demeanor. Who taught this guy how to fly? And fly in combat for that matter?!

Deep Six, his filecard basically states that he was head of the class in divers school and he "held his breathe the longest" etc. Being that he is the S.H.A.R.C's driver...should'nt he at some point have had some sort of pilot's training? I mean within my imagination and the Joe-Verse I could just write it off as "he was briefed and trained on a S.H.A.R.C and that is that" Seriously though, it flies. Good points on Freefall and Crazy Legs. I never really put much thought into those two, but they would be ideal candidates for the team based on their intellectual abilities. Crazy Legs got very little use in the comics, just that mission to Sierra Gordo with Wild Bill and Maverick. I always thought Rip Cord was SF, based on his specialties of infantry and demolitions, and the fact that he was a HALO jumper. When you put it all together, it makes sense.

Right now most of my comic knowledge is from memory 15 years ago. So that's one of the reasons I'm here. I do have the Classic Graphic novels 1,2,and 6 with plans to catch up this weekend at Planet Comicon. So I might have a better concept of them after my memory is restored.
So lately Ive been making Attendence Charts for the TV series: Spy Troops (2003), Valor vs Venom (2004), Sigma 6 (2005-2006), Resolute (2009), Even the bad to worse DIC years of GI JOE Operation Dragonfire (1989) & GI JOE (1990-92), Finally I revised my GI JOE: ARAH (1983-1987) attendance chart by updating ranks so it might make some sense of a proper chain of command. Thought I might share my findings. Everyone named is a E-6 or above with exception of Sgt Sparks, Cpl Quick Kick, Sgt Big Lob and civilian Mercer, Red Dog and Taurus. I made Scarlett, into a Marine 'Lipstick Lieutenant' (Warrant Officer), because the miniseries and several of the episodes it seemed she was the Executive Officer. Made Duke a Major, Cutter is a Lieutenant, Chuckles is a Warrant Officer and Falcon is a Captain. Then Stalker, Gung-Ho, Lady Jaye, Roadblock and Beach Head I made into Master Sergeants with a rotation of the top shirt position. Clutch, SnowJob, Snake Eyes, Recondo, Shipwreck, Leatherneck, Lowlight & Slaughter are all E-7's to fill Squad Leaders positions. Flint, Sharpe (USMC), Gen Flagg, Adm Ledger, Ace, Hawk (Air Force), Slipstream and Lift Ticket is as is. Doc, I'm still unsure of him SFC or Capt, but he seems more like a technology scientist like Rex Lewis. Then all others are E-6's. When Shipwreck & Quick Kick (a Corporal the only named E-4) joined, they were both finished with their time of service. Shipwreck was a former Machinist Chief, he kept the cover (dixie cup) of a 'mate' and now a soldier for hire and Quick Kick was a regular infantryman that became a stunt pilot. Then all the 'green shirts' & 'blue shirts' I made E-5 and below. Tho the carrier does contain several hundred un-named Officers for pilot duty and for the ships 'CoC'. Average joes as pilots for helos and aircraft I disregarded and only use as a maguffin device, but if they flew civilian aircraft I use as a civilian pilot like Quick Kick and Airtight (thru CAP into USAF). LtJg Torpedo (the sub in M.A.S.S.) and WO Deep Six (Sharc) are Navy LDO's. Wild Bill transferred to Air Force from the Army to be Heavy Aircraft Pilot, and now with a rank of 1st Lt. So he has Helo and heavy aircraft skills. Is this a more believable Order of Battle with the info supplied by the Sunbow TV Series artistic license of the entity of GI Joe?

Tanksmasher you missed Kamakura as a Green Beret. At least in his DDP battlefile.
So Oliver have you figured where Freefall went to college yet? And Speaking of Musical talent, apparently you can add Keel-Haul as he plays clarinet badly according to his orignal filecard. So Clarinet, drums, glockinspiel(sp?), pianists, Bass, Choirboy, and Classical Guitarist. There's no Saxophone player in the Joes? |

I never had Freefall. I love Crazylegs.
But he was kind of weird. Called a "helicopter assault trooper" but giving a paracute?? The four of them, Ripcord/Airborne/Crazylegs/Freefall, would make a kick-ass unit with Flint leading 'em In my Joeverse, the SHARC does not fly.

Yeah, that would be a great unit. You might consider adding Paratrooper Dusty. But a 5-6 man HALO Team would be pretty awesome. Good call.

There are several public Universities in Illinois where he could major in Philosophy, but I don't know where he could go to earn a Masters Degree in Eastern Philosophy. When I Googled "Eastern Philosophy" Masters Programs, Southern Illinois University had a program... it's as likely as any other school in the region. There's no reason to think that he attened somewhere like The University of Chicago or Northwestern University. A good public university probably makes a lot of sense for Freefall.
