More training can never hurt though sometimes one learns more in combat than he does in training so it might just depend on the individual. BTW, due to limited slots is Ranger School today typically (though not always) reserved for NCOs or NCO candidates since part of the training stresses leadership? It seems like they just wouldn't send a PFC or SPC there when they could send a newly promoted SGT or someone about to be promoted. I understand that Rangers in the Regiment are expected to attend to further their careers but it's not a requirement, at least not until they make SGT, I believe.

If Spearhead was in a high speed infantry unit (which he may have been since he's now in GI Joe), they could have a good amount of slots for ranger school.

I just think that if he were in an Active Duty Infantry Division - let's say he's in the 82nd, for example - and his Platoon Leader notices that he's a good soldier, well respected by the other soldiers, that the NCO's think he's squared away, and he's got a good PT score... the Lt. might say to the Company Commander, "Sir, we've got a good soldier over here by the name of Specialist Millman, and we'd like to keep him in the unit. How about we offer him a slot to go to Ranger School if he'll re-up with us? He's got excellent Leadership skills; I think he could make an excellent NCO if we develop him."

Hey did anybody see that crazy "beach-head" thread from earlier? The guy who started it was like: why do people like Beach-Head? He's just a Firefly rip-off... what's the big deal?
I feel like if the guy really wanted to know what was up with Beach-Head, he would have come to this thread and asked us. It's like the guy didn't even want to take time to read the file cards. Lame.

I know, right? What's up with that? An ex-insurance salesman... pretty funny.

That makes a lot of sense. It seems that the Joes would want soldiers who were educated and capable of thinking/acting individually, and "outside the Box". Having Operators who are educated seems like a good idea.

I like the idea of Spearhead as a Ranger, he's one of my faves. I'd like to think that being such an elite unit, most if not all the army infantry guys would have passed through ranger school at some point. I know some guys are picked for technical proficiency in their specific MOS but yeah, most ruck infantry I'd expect to be ranger qualified.
