It's too bad NECA is doing Clash of the Titans. I guess this means we won't be seeing any 1/18 articulated figures.

They are 1:18th and the detail on the armor is great.
It should jsut be a rule that Hasbro makes all 3 3/4" figures and they all can switch parts.

I haven't been collecting the Marvel line but that Luke Cage looks bad ass. Capt America and Thor are solid too but I've never been a big fan of those characters.

I was getting the MU figures but the DCIH figures are horribly out of scale with other 1/18 so I stopped. I read more DC than Marvel and I didn't want to get just one comic line so gave up the whole thing. I'll cherry pick some figures though. The Nick Fury and Black Widow look cool

I haven't gotten too many of the MU figures, been able to avoid it.
Will be getting Thor, and both Black Widows (Natasha and Yelena heads) and the upcoming Kitty Pryde w/ Lockheed. And definately getting Black Widow, Nick Fury, unmasked IM and unmasked WM from IM2 line. Still need to get some of the Wolverine for use as Dog Soldiers.

You guys see the Sideshow Beachhead? Damn.. I wants.
What do you think of the name the Club is giving Dr. Venom? Archibald Monev. What nationality is Monev? (cue Zulu's phone ringing "Z, we have a mission for you...") I love the AT cards and can't wait for the figures. Between the Adventure Team sets, Sideshow Flint and Beachhead and the upcoming PoC... Joe is just going to suck my wallet dry. I should just have my paychecks direct deposited to Hasbro, lol (yeah, know the Club and Sideshow as well )

Lots of people seem to like Sideshow's GI Joe offerings, but speaking as somebody who's been following the 1:6 toy community for years, I have to say that they are over-priced compared to what else is out there, especially when you consider that the GI Joe figures aren't based on real people, so there's no likeness licensing cost. Why they cost anywhere between $20 to $30 more than similarly built Star Wars and Indiana Jones Sideshow figures (where Sideshow has to pay for the cost of licensing the character and the actor's likeness) is beyond me. Well, not really. I think Sideshow realizes that the majority of people interested in buying high end 1:6 GI Joe figures have only the relatively lower quality 1:6 GI Joe figures made by Hasbro for comparison, and they're less likely to notice that they're getting something at an inflated cost. To me, the GI Joe Sideshow figures are almost as poor a value as the Medicom RAH figures: They're nice at first glance, but when coupled with how much they cost relative to similarly detailed and articulated figures in the same scale, the overall perception of quality goes down a bit. Don't get me wrong... Sideshow's done a fairly decent job with most of their GI Joe figures (Prometheus base body with its odd proportions and outdated articulation model notwithstanding), but there's no way I'd fork over $110 US+ for one of their GI Joe figures. Contrast Sideshow's GI Joe figures with, say, Hot Toys' DX series Joker. The Joker figure retails for anywhere between $150 to $180 making it appear more expensive than Sideshow's GI Joes, but when you consider that the DX Joker is practically two figures (a regular Joker and a Joker in a police disguise), has more articulation (including moving eyeballs!), better proportions, is an accurate licensed likeness of a character as portrayed by a specific actor, and is sculpted by the toy industry's consensus leading likeness sculptor (South Korean artist YULLI) and painted by one of the best figure painters around (JC Hong), it becomes readily apparent that Sideshow's 1:6 GI Joe figures aren't priced nearly as competitively. I've been buying the MU stuff. I try to only get ones that fit with the Joes. but I've picked up a few that don't work. I just ordered Thor and Luke Cage and Black Widow, and Bucky. Black Widow will be my Mayday, then I'll use the IronMan one as Black Widow herself.
Don't know what to do with the rest? And I haven't decided where I want to put Warpath. It's too bad the DC stuff is just unusable. |

Yeah, the 1/6 stuff looks really cool but I promised myself to be more selective and budget my hobby because it can get out of control. Damn Sideshow.

I guess they will be using the traditional filecard look? Are the adventure team guys actual individuals with names and ranks, or just generic Adventure man. To me that top half of the filecard is where people can make the physical connection to a character. It sort of gives you the real aspects of the character. I'm assuming that will be missing on the adventure team guys. Maybe not Dr Venom. But I guess they will all read the same like, "Action Man likes his action ___ and his ____ ____ . That's why he always carries his ____ along with his trusty 820 Selective Fire Long Range Fully Automatic Assualt Rifle." |
