This *must* have been mentioned somewhere in the past 1200 pages, so my apologies for bringing it up again if it has:
Both Wild Weasel's and Tomax/Xamot's file cards make mention of the "bush wars of South America and Africa." I always thought it would be cool if they were former associates and envision Wild Weasel getting his mouth injury and Xamot his scar in the same mission. WW does wear red and I thought that could be a cool nod to the Crimson Guard. (and I thought of that *before* Jerwa or the artist had him present with the CG's in his DDP Frontline arc) Of course, WW came out before the CG's or the Twins, but it's still how I see it in my Joeverse. For a bit more detail, I also like the idea of Major Bludd and the Twins, at the very least, being aware of each other when they were Legionnaires even if they didn't serve together. Now, back to your regularly scheduled, more technical, filecard discussion. ;) I've always liked Major Bludd, given his extensive background both military and mercenary, he could have conceivably interacted with a whole bunch of people in the pre Joe verse. As an Australian SASR, he probably would have learnt a ton of stuff in Vietnam and Cambodia. |

thanks guys. i'd miss this thread & the ages 25 comic too much to leave.
with this in mind i have put him on my jungle ops ruck team as a CTT along with Spirit. i dont remember who suggested this idea first, but i liked it enough to "borrow" takedown & tyroc- you guys have got some great names for your original characters; might have to borrow them too I'm glad you're using Spirit and Mutt together. That's what I did with my Combat Tracker Team. I had thought of putting Recondo on that team as well because of jungle warfare training but decided to put him in my recon platoon instead. I'm stealing Search & Seizure as well. In my Link story I put a dog on the Platform as part of the VBSS team. You just gave me the name I needed.
I like putting Budo on it as well, even though he's not Navy or Marine. Could easily enough make him part of it. Right now I have BBQ, Hatch, Search & Seizure, Budo and will round it out with new guys since all my SEaLs and such are accounted for. I made Shipwreck a Combatant Craft Crewman.

If anyone were to add Extreme Lt Stone to their Joeverse where would you put him?
I know Troy you don't have him. Zulu I can't remember if you are using him or are only using Sigma 6 Lt Stone. Well Tryoc you use everybody so I'm hoping you have something for me. Personally I think I have to bump him to Capt or Major, but I like having the extra Marine Officer. I just haven't picked the right Duke to rename. I unfortunately painted most of their hair a different color. Still I'll pick one, but I don't know where to put him. I mean what was he? Artillery? I don't think Force Recon. I'll have to start reading the books. I can't wait for the Resolute Stalker to rename Stryker, but honestly I don't know much about him. |

Was it supposed to be the same continuity, but set in the future? Is that the deal? Which books are you talking about, Loose?

EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, I think "Clancy" and "GI Joe" were the same guy or something (with the former being his modern identity as leader of the Joe team, the latter as his original identity). The "same continuity, but set in the future" deal is with the Sgt. Savage and the Screaming Eagles line. The direct-to-video cartoon was set in an unspecified future time forward of the Sunbow/DIC cartoons where Cobra is no longer active and Lady Jaye inexplicably has turned into a blonde . I use the RoC Marine Stone to cover all the various Stones.
You know, the other day Oliver was saying that even Marine desk jockeys still receive Marine basic training and I just thought of something today. In Blackhawk Down (the movie, not sure how this differs from reality and the book) but Ewan McGregors character, Grimes, is a desk jockey that gets sent out cause one of the chalks has a guy with a broken arm. That's kind of how I see my Joes. Even the guys riding the desks can pick up an assault rifle and kick some ass.

I think even if you're in a Ranger Headquarters Company serving as a clerk, supply, etc... you still have to be a Ranger first and foremost.
But I'm not positive. |

I was talking about the comicbooks Oliver. Yeah the filecard/dogtag thingy is pretty worthless the only thing you gather from them is that he is a Marine Lt. That's it. The roster not being much bigger than Sigma Six.

Technically everyone's secondary MOS is infantry. You learn the basics in Basic Training. Every soldier (I'm speaking about the army here) should be able to get from point a to point b in a tactical manner and know which way to point the weapon. ;) They just don't get regularly trained in it as much as the actual infantry.
