Well if I was using a pure Joe team, it might look like this, but it's not really perfect. There aren't enough Joes to fill the right positions.
Helicopter Crew Pilots – Wild Bill, Windmill, Dogfight, Updraft Copilots – Flint, Lift-Ticket, Major Altitude, (?) Gunners – Airborne, Starduster, Crazylegs, Alpine, Blocker, Blaster, Knockdown, Barricade Platoon HQ PL – Falcon PSG – Leatherneck RTO – Dial-Tone FO – Recoil FO RTO – Sneak Peek Medic – Lifeline First Rifle Squad SL – Beach Head A TL – Stalker SAW – Rock N Roll GR – Zap RM – Grunt B TL – Outback SAW – Tunnel Rat GR – Hardball RM – Hit N Run Second Rifle Squad SL – Big Ben A TL – Mercer SAW – Urzor GR – Dusty RM – Alpinista B TL – Freefall SAW – Heavy Duty GR – Footloose RM – Rip Cord Third Rifle Squad SL – Pathfinder A TL – Red Dog SAW – Rampart GR – Fast Draw RM – Spearhead B TL – Taurus SAW – Roadblock GR – Bazooka RM – Spirit Weapons Team SL – Mirage MG – Repeater AMG – Clutch AB – Tripwire Sniper/Scout Team Sniper – Low-Light Spotter – Side Track Security – Ambush |

Take Greg Land, and others that use photo reference, there's no way they could have worked under the "marvel method".
Which, far as I know, isn't used widely anymore.

IIRC, Hama's always handed in full and detailed scripts that the artist works from, panel-by-panel, as opposed to the "Marvel method" popularized by Stan Lee: where the writer gives the artist the plot (sometimes just two or three sentences!), the artist creates a sequence of panels that conform to the plot, and then the writer writes the dialogue to fit the artist's sequential images.
The "Marvel method" used to be real popular back in the day, but I think it's fallen out of favour now, which is why you get a lot of static-looking and stiff comic book art these days--artists are losing their sense of dynamism and spontaneity because they're so busy sticking to the scripts. Artists in the 1960s and 1970s had a lot more creative control over the narrative because they were actively involved in the storytelling process. Of course, not every artist has the storytelling skills of old school Marvel method greats like Jack Kirby or Gil Kane, and I think that's one of the reasons why the "Marvel method" has fallen into disuse. A lot of the most popular artists these days (and going as far back as the mid-1980s) are more concerned with illustrating as opposed to storytelling. A talent for rendering is great and it's a prerequisite for being a good artist in most any field, but without a refined ability to tell a story through gesture and staging, a comic book artist might as well be illustrating posters, so I can understand why these days, the bulk of the storytelling responsibility is now the writer's. An writer can also turn in a completely detailed script full of references to the artist, and the artist can ignore it completely. Warren Ellis is known for tailoring his scripts to his artists, but he was ignored almost completely by Mat Broome on WildCATs/X-Men, to the point where Ellis has stated repeatedly that he was dissatisfied with the resultant comic. Travis Charest did something similar to Scott Lobdell in the early issues of WildCATs v. 2, and those are just two of the cases I know off the top of my head. Editorial can also force changes, as happened with a lot of the art from Mark Millar's run on the Authority (with all of the various artists he worked with). So, it's still not necessarily the writer's fault.

Urzor as a Joe. Beachhead outranks Stalker are the main ones I see. What about other pilots for Copilots like Air Raid? or Cannonball? or Matt Trakker? |

Big Ben is SAS. He's on loan to the Joes.
I also use Urzor as a Joe. He doesn't look like a Cobra, and because he's not a U.S. figure, I renamed him "Tracer" and made him my Heavy Machine Gunner for my Ranger Squad.
