new Dusty w/ k-pot head will be Spearhead for me. lots of potential with this line up.
Oliver- I was reading about ODA teams and MIKE Force organization & if i remember correctly there are 6 ODA and 1 ODB teams per MF. Of the "A" teams one is designated SCUBA and another HALO. The other 4 are "ruck" teams. I've decided to set up my Joes based on this concept. HALO team will have Airborne, Ripcord, Crazylegs, Freefall, Barrel Roll, Air Raid, Cloudburst, Starduster & some Sky Patrol members to round it out. SCUBA will be Torpedo, Wet Suit, Wet Down, Deep Six, Depth Charge, Mariner, Harpoon, Tracker and some original customs to bring it up to 12. Ruck teams will consist of an Amphib Assault (Marines), SWAT & 2 Infantry teams. The ODB or headquarters team will be Hawk and the tech guys. That sounds like an excellent set-up, Topside. Using the SF Mike Force as a Blueprint is a great idea. Most people don't think about Army Special Forces as doing a lot of SCUBA ops, but they have whole A-Teams dedicated to that kind of work. To be honest, I've never worked with any SCUBA SF guys, but I'd be very interested to talk with some. I wonder how their work differs from what the SEALs or MARSOC is doing?

So what are your reservations about the HISS and the VAMP, Fogger? You just don't care for the designs? I think what appeals to me about both of them is the suspention systems. That's a really neat feature to me... it's why I liked the AWE Striker so much with the steering.
My concerns with the VAMP are mostly that it's going to be over-gunned - as in guns hanging off every available place, which tends to make a vehicle look silly (in my opinion). I'm also not wild about the claw in front, although if that stows well I won't care. We'll see as more pictures surface - I could go either way on both of them.

according to Hasbro reps, a lot of the store exclusives through 2010 will call back to the past, and will have some strong 25th Anniversary influences. They understand and appreciate the rich history and culture of G.I. Joe, and plan to pay tribute to that by giving us some great vintage homages sprinkled throughout some store exclusives in 2010. In fact, I mentioned two names specifically, Low Light and Dial Tone, and while the Hasbro rep would not confirm anything, he did smirk in a way that makes me think that they know what many collectors are looking for, and are hoping to take advantage of a non-movie year to deliver something in several different styles from several different eras, if you catch my drift.

The guns on the VAMP are removable Fogger, and there's 3 places you can place the 2 guns. So could only have one if you wanted to. Want some pics of the different configurations?
I'll see if can get better pics of the claw. My prototype came with the claw tucked under the front dash and it worked it's way from one side to the other so it's kind of stuck. Haven't spent alot of time trying to get it out yet, but I can.

Dial-Tone and Low-Light would be awesome. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed. It's nice to know that the store exclusives are keeping the 25th line in mind and alive.

This would be sweet. Just hope they put a little more love into them than they did with the 7-packs, which were okay. And we all know rumors are as good as gold around here!

Still, the body looks great and the swappable extra head wearing what looks like a PASGT helmet makes the "Star Wars" head irrelevant. I'm hoping that the neck post will accept the DVD pack Dusty's head with little to no modification necessary, as I think the combination would look pretty good. Don't know anything about SF combat swimming/diving ops, but I figure it's probably more similar to what the Marine Recon combatant divers do, as opposed to what SEALs are trained to do. Looking at the training pipeline at the official US Army Enlisted Master Template, it looks like SF divers take the SF Combat Diver Qualification Course, which is by and large, the same course Marine Recon combatant divers take. SEALs are more than just trained up to the level of SF Combat Dive-qualification, they're fully trained across the full spectrum of underwater demolitions and sabotage. |
