To those of you who celebrate it (and even those who don't), Merry Christmas. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get Fight Night Round 4 under the proverbial tree this year.
I just noticed the "Banned" listing under his username as well. Hmmm. I don't really venture beyond a few threads and subforums so it might be that he incurred multiple forum rule infractions elsewhere on the board, as he hinted at in an earlier post. Anyway, speculation of this type is frowned upon as well I think, so I'll stop at that. |

Hey have you guys read GI Joe issue 13 yet? When Mainframe is welcomed back on the team, he walks into his room and finds Tunnel Rat, his bunkmate, reading McCarthy's Blood Meridian, which is one of Hama's favorite books and mine too. A nice little salute to a writing master.

Yeah, that was cool. But in #12
I love IDW's Tripwire, debuted in #13

BTW, any of you guys ever seen the movie Proof of Life?
It's with Russell Crowe and Meg Ryan. It's passed on a book, and I always wanted to read the book, but never got around to it. Crowe plays a K&R expert for an insurance company, Kidnapping and Ransom. Big companies, like Oil Companies, take on these insurance policies that include specialized trained operatives that will try to ransom for the hostage and if that doesn't work will actually go in and retreive the hostage. There's a part at the end that is really well done for a military operation, should check it out.

Yeah I'm glad Tripwire isn't depicted as a clumsy buffoon in IDW. I've heard of Proof of Life but never saw it because I didn't think it would be any good. Maybe I'll have to rent it. |

Yeah, the filecards for the "internationalised" versions of the ARAH Joes that came out during the latter years of the Action Force line were basically the same as the North American filecards that came with the ARAH GI Joes, except that birthplaces and the occasional job specialties were sometimes substituted for European/non-American ones when it fit the context (for instance, the Action Force version of Airtight is from Germany). So the templates for those filecards are basically the ones that Larry Hama originally wrote but with minor international twists instituted by Palitoy's/Hasbro's branding/localisation team.
The Action Force Battle Files on the other hand, were written by the people working on whatever the extant Action Force comic was at the time of production. I suppose you could make the distinction that the Action Force Battle Files and the file cards that came with the later Action Force figures belong to two different "continuities" (sort of like how the comic book and cartoon treatments of the ARAH characters occasionally diverged from each other). Not overly useful as they are all stored at my parents' house, but next time I'm over there I will see if I can dig out their box and will do some scanning. I did contact YoJoe a while back to see if they would be interested in some international filecards but received no reply, so completely forgot about it. |

Hmm, just reading back through the thread and about BFTB, I saw this (Beachhead): BEACH HEAD
and while he is iirc born in the same place, afaicr his filecard said he was NZ SAS on secondment to the Rangers. Will have to dig out my filecards and see if my memory is failing me! |
