:(
It was the crew size that was the determining factor. 35 vs 350

Ive been watching a few "McHale's Navy" episodes since comedies are the primary subject of miltary shows in the early television. (Operation Petticoat, MASH, Gomer Pyle, McHales Navy, etc)
And we've established that MASH was the origin of a certain General Flagg. Well McHale has a director named Hollingsworth Morse, is that the origin of one of the Generals from Washington during the destruction of PIT II. Hama must have spent alot of time in his local library, reading scripts, books and geneologies like I did in the early 90's. Since it was before the advent of computers and readily available television shows on vhs/dvd.

Interesting. I wonder if that is the origin of Hollingsworth.

But I think you're grasping at straws with Hollingsworth. |

It probably was something where Hama was working on the script and had McHale's Navy on (or had just watched it or something) and the name Hollingsworth stuck in his head.
So I've borrowed enough from Tyroc (and the big borrow is upcoming, lol) and Zuludelta for my Joeverse. So now it's Oliver's turn. Look for the formation of Ghost Squad soon ;)

Even though Larry was only briefly associated with MASH, it was still a popular show at the time and Flagg was a prominent recurring character. Hollingsworth might be more of a reach, but it wouldn't surprise me either way. Also, I'm wondering if Wild Bill's look is based on Larry's friend Bob Light. I thought of this while reading Origins the other day.
