I don't remember any references to Springfield's state except in #14. The way it was portrayed, it seemed like it was further away. I tend to agree that the Spec Ops units don't have CSIs attached to them. Of course, the NCIS TV show portrays the LA branch as being a slightly more "elite" unit.

Oh yeah, I think Action Force Flint is a different character entirely. I'm just saying that the characters are pretty similar, and given everything else about Flint, he comes across as a guys with English Ancestry. He Majors in English Literature, he goes to Oxford with a Rhodes Scholarship, etc.

Her real name isn't listed or mentioned anywhere. I thought Rocky had asked how she got the Helix codename.

The first Springfield (which made its first appearance in issue #10 of the original Marvel series) was revealed to be in Vermont in issue #14.
I don't know which states the subsequent Springfields were located in, though (how many Cobra-controlled Springfields were there in the original Marvel series? Was the Springfield that the Joes invaded in issue #49 different from the one in issue #10 and #14?) #10 (where Zap, Scarlett and SE meet Billy) is the same one the Joes invaded in #49, the main Cobra Springfield base. Cobra then later set up Broca Beach as their US base. DDP set up another town as well in their series. It was in an operation in that town that Mirage brought Thomas Stall up on charges and led to his court martial and then release by Cobra and becoming Black-Out. It does help support the theory that all Springfields are Cobra towns. I'm just thinking that the Joes end up wanting to keep Cobra's existence a secret and with my Joes, they operate pretty independent, so they'd need their own intel gathering unit and a unit that can "cover up" missions.

The main Springfield was never Vermont. Destro had to go from the main Springfield to the Vermont Springfield to lead an operation to make sure the Baroness didn't get captured. Cobra had an operation there (#14) but nothing on the scale of the entire town.

So far Ive read about 120 pages out of 1020 pages, stay on target. What is that about 10%.
So I havent seen anything about 1983 Captain Carl Doc Greer's other training besides Doctor and Chaplain's Assistant on here. But he also graduated from Airborne School, Mountaineering School, and Desert Training Unit. So does this mean he is more combatant than he's appearing or was the training just survival rather than actual combat training in those locales? I never had Doc, but he was one of my top 5 Joes, I used Lando Calrissian for Doc. Also Covergirl had that place of top 10 but never had her either I used a generic female blonde Ambulance figure. I lost all my "KID" Joes after my kid brother inherited them. So my collection was small since 2003, I picked up a few thru the years. I thought I was gonna be able to resist 25th and ROC, but my bestfriend bought me FLINT and TRAKKER for Christmas last year, and now Ive just bought as many as my budget can allow, its like my drug. I got a Platoon of joes now (ranks are modified). 33 Joes (25/ROC), and 7 cobras. Ive made a few personel changes: Zartan vs Joes 5-pack, using the disguised head as Repeater, Repeater as Hardball, PIT Commando as Shockwave, Thunderblast as a medic named Rex Lewis, Zartan's head on a neo-vipers body without armour as Zartan. Shipwreck (25th) as Topside without the rocker/arch and eagle, and use Shipwreck (ROC) as Shipwreck, since E-7 and above doesnt wear dungarees with a baseball cap or a dixie cup. Was I the only one, whose dad criticized Cutter's and Shipwreck's uniform mistake? The diver LT Torpedo TRU Leader 3-pack as Wetsuit or DUKE, Torpedo wore black, the rest of the MASS device Heavy Water Team wore yellow. My favorite JOE of course was FLINT, as a Warrant Officer, Helo-pilot. My brother's favorite is Lt Falcon. My brother and I are 12 years apart. So it felt like Duke with Lt Falcon. He was climbing shelves, trees, the roof, and throwing toys down the sump pump as a toddler. He wasnt able to watch the show much since he was born too late. But he got to play with a ton of joes. He had lots of questions of ROC. So now I'll get back to reading the other 90% of this thread.

This is probably not the "in-universe" explanation you're looking for but she's called Helix as a tie-in to the video game studio that designed her (she was made expressly for the RoC video game). The studio is named Double Helix Games. |
