I'm going to post this thought again, though I've posted it many times. I understand the file names are often given in honor of a Hasbro Employee. And I don't have a problem with that at all. However, it would be nice if they could spread the love around when it comes to Places of Birth. A lot of States can only claim one Joe -I know, I'm biased. Mississippi only has one: Roadblock - and Rode Island has a ton of Joes. It's disproportionate to population and geography.
G.I. Joe is not supposed to be: A Real New England Hero (assisted a little by other schmucks from around the rest of the country) I have no problem with New England. I love Boston and New Hampshire and New Jersey. I have cousins in Connecticut and New York. All I'm asking for is a little more equal representation. Before a State gets a third Joe, maybe all the other States should have at least 2 Joes. Roadblock is gone. IDW combined the Character with Heavy Duty and kept the name "Heavy Duty". As it stands currently, there are no Mississippians in G.I. Joe. Perhaps I can offer a suggestion for a character to replace him: Marine Force Recon Officer Code Name: Rebel Rank: 0-6 Place of Birth: Oxford, Mississippi Just a suggestion. It's pretty funny that the one guy who cares so much about "spreading the love" around and having a Joe with a birthplace in his state loses that Joe in the new Joeverse. It's tragically funny, actually. All of this is! I don't think Larry Hama or Hasbro ever expected us (or even wanted us) to care about the minutia as we do. George Lucas doesn't care who was the commander of what ship in what novel series either! We're dorks, people! You gotta love us.

George Lucas doesn't care who was the commander of what ship in what novel series either! We're dorks, people! You gotta love us. I really don't think it's funny. And I don't think I'm the only one who likes having a Joe from their own State. Always made me feel like I understood that character a little bit. Roadblock was from where I'm from. He's just a Mississippi boy like me. About the Minutia, people have kept track of this stuff for a while. YoJoe.com is a perfect example - they keep every file card available to view because people are interested. Lots of people are interested. There's a whole website devoted to the Joes' birth places, and I didn't start it. Lots of us are interested in how to organize our Joes, by rank and by specialty. Details are fun parts of these characters - the details are a big part of the fun for a lot of us. I don't care anything about George Lucas or Star Wars - and I don't think Star Wars has a thing to do with G.I. Joe other than the fact that Hasbro happens to make both of the toys. I do like the idea of an All-American Special Forces Team having representatives from every State. This is a whole thread about file cards. Minutia, if you like. This is a whole thread devoted to examining and talking about the little details that we all enjoy so much. The Joes' home States are one of the facts that I like. That's a detail that I enjoy and others enjoy as well. I also like to see what the character's rank is. I also like to see which branch of the service their in and what specialty they have. I like to know if they have special training. I like all those details. People like G.I. Joe for different reasons. Some people like some characters, other people hate those same characters. Some people like O-Ring construction. Some people like the 25th stuff. Some people like the Marvel comic book, other liked DDP. Some people loved the Cartoon (and Cobra-LA) and never read the comic, etc. There's a lot of different kinds of fans in this community. And that's OK. There's a lot of different threads in this community to accommodate them. I'll tell you what I'm not big on: Customs. Nothing against it; it's just not my thing. But here's what I don't do: I don't go into a thread entitled: "Customs and people who like them" and make fun of the people because their interests don't appeal to me. I would hope, that if we are all "dorks" as you said, then we could at least have some civility among us, and have respect for the interests of our fellow "dorks".

You know as well as I do, in this day of political correctness, Hasbro won't make a character called Rebel if it refers to the South, Confederacy, or the Stars and Bars.
There are at least two Joes from Tennessee. Breaker who is from Gatlinburg in East Tennessee, and Fast-Draw from Cordova, TN. It's interesting because in '87 when Fast-Draw was released, Cordova was a small country town. Now it's a booming suburb of Memphis. If you don't live here, it's probably not interesting. lol Really it was just a joke, but I would like a replacement Mississippian since they've eliminated Roadblock from the 'Joeverse', as some call it. Fast-Draw was great, though I think he's from Collierville - not Cordova. Still, pretty close to Memphis. I'm from North Mississippi - so Memphis and Collierville are just right up the road from me. It's great that Tennessee has two Joes. I think Arkansas as 2 or 3, Louisiana has 2, South Carolina has 2 or 3. North Carolina has 2 or 3. Florida has at least 2. I just think it's a sham that Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia have 1 each and Mississippi just lost it's 1 Joe. It's not just the South, though. Wyoming only has 1. Alaska has 1. I think the Dakotas have 1 each. I just think we should even that out - even if it's just a vehicle driver, it's still cool to have a Joe from your home State. Always good to hear from a fellow Southerner.

I think he mentioned Star Wars just to compare how the fans are (caring who the captain a certain shape in a certain novel is) compared to the owners/creators (who may not care as much about details like that).
The filecards are part of the fun. I was disappointed when thought there wasn't a single Joe from NH. Finding out Blizzard is from wolfeboro makes me want to get him now, when before I didn't really care.

Finding out Blizzard is from Wolfeboro makes me want to get him now, when before I didn't really care. I didn't realize Blizzard was the only one from NH. One of my favorites, Claymore, is from Vermont. So is Snow Job. Maine even claims 2 Joes. Massachusetts has like 5 or 6 at least. Connecticut has 3 Joes and Rhode Island has nearly 20 Joes. New York has just under 15 Joes. New Jersey has 4 or 5 Hmmm. I guess having a Joe from your home State would be no big deal if you had 15 or 20 from your State/City. Population is one thing, but why do Maine and Vermont have more than y'all do? Here's a fun question: Can you name a Joe from Delaware?

What did you go see in Manchester? I lived in Manchester for a couple of years, been in Concord the rest of the time.
Kind of funny that Blizzard, a snow trooper, isn't from the more northern part of NH (he's from the middle part of the state, a town on the biggest lake, figured he would have been from the ski mountains).
