Right, the new comics are brand new continuity.

I favor the more evil Cobra Commander form the Marvel comics, but I enjoy the scemes from the cartoon. So, guess I mix it all and add my own stuff too. Only Blue Shirts and Vipers ever die in my Verse.

My own though influenced by the cartoon and filecards. The beauty of an action figure is that the possibilities are endless in the mind of the child playing with it. When I got Joes as a kid, I went with my own thing loosely based off what was on the filecards and in the cartoon. As I grew I developed my own world of Joe - still loosely based on filecard info for character qualities, names and such, as well as the cartoon for a basis of the characters voice and relationships with other Joes (Duke/Scarlett, Wetsuit/Leatherneck, Alpine/Bazooka, etc...) - From there I just imagined how each character would interact in any given situation. I haven't read much of the comics, though I collected the card set back in the 90's and used the info provided there to fine tune my imagining of each character.
At this point, my own envisioning of each character is so ingrained that I find it difficult to see them any other way.

I think Season 2 of the G.I. Joe Cartoon is the only G.I. Joe lore I had ever been exposed to. After that all I did was buy the toys having no idea who was who, or what was what. Heck, I didn't even read the file cards on the toys. I just did my own thing with them, but for whatever reason, I never did combine forces. My G.I. Joe figures NEVER combined with any of my Cobra figures when I made my own little assault teams. I guess some things are just to sacred to mess with... and that whole G.I. Joe VERSUS Cobra thing is one of them. LOL.

i dont remember anything solid from the comics or cartoons (save for MASS)....and....
considering they just sit there on my shelves...no real continuity. now i have created "backstories" for certain situations. e.g. zartan's airboat bludds non-moving arm and the ever-controversial notion that bludd is gay. theyre really just individual characters that occupy the same verse to me. |

I've come up with my own. More realistic with a few select fantasy pieces thrown in.
