Hah! I wish. I know for a fact he had at least 2 ML "Yellow" Daredevil variant figs there, which I spent many fruitless hours searching for. He also had loads of comic books, I mean thousands.
Unfortunately I have no idea where that dude is now. He was a cool manager, but geez retail managers have to work themselves to death during the Christmas rush. He literally slept on a pallet in the back of the store for the better part of a month.

i traded a lot of worthless bcards for a crapload of figures back in 88, good move. if you want shady, hmm, i went to a HUGE auction one day when i was 14. i saw practically every vintage comic that i was looking for except for spidy 1. i couldn't believe the amount of high valued books this guy had. to make a long story short, i put the really good ones under really crappy ones when no one was looking and bidded on the crappy lots. someone figured it out and called me on it. we were in a bidding war over a beer flat full of casper the ghosts with a first appearance of sabertooth under them. it ended at $90 dollars and i skipped outta there fast with the loot i did get. what a little bastard i was.

I worked at a (since closed) KB toys in a mall outside of Boston in the Fall/Winter of 2001. I always got assigned to work the 5 am truck delivery with the manager, at first 'cause I'm a big, tireless sort (peasant stock and all that- can lift and carry all day) but then the manager realized I also liked toys. Together, we examined every single case of interesting action figures that came into the store; Joe, Simpsons, but especially Marvel Legends and what really started me down this whole collecting road...Lord of the Rings figures from Toybiz, which debuted that fall. I would grab one of anything I wanted, the manager would grab anything...and I mean anything...that was short-packed. He didn't care if it was a fig from the Jimmy Neutron movie; there was only one in the case, when there were 2 of everything else, off it went to his storage shed. So, some folks might get pissed about the idea of people working in the store grabbing everything for themselves. (was that at the Arsinal Mall?) I did the same thing working at the Toys R Us in Boston's South Bay Mall for Star wars figures and Joes (also got a few 'tickle me elmos' as well) I think the defacto worst thing I did was date someone who was working at Toys R Us (cause I swore I would never work there again), Got her to get me a bunch of the Battle Corps lines (which was worse, cause I think she stole them),.. then ended up dumping her for my High school sweetheart. gee,.. I was an asshole when I was 17!

Shadiest toy purchases I can remember:
A Transformers Ricochet reissue at TRU didn't have the shelf price tag, but the ones around it did at $19.99. I knew Ricochet was 34.99 courtesy of the internet. When I got to the register and was charged $34.99 I acted innocent and said well, "the others were $20 so shouldn't this one be as well?" Shortly after the cashier called up the manager to look into it I walked out the door with my $20 Ricochet. When I was about 13 a local antique store had a HISS and ASP being sold together for something ridiculous like $40. I just wanted the ASP but the owner wouldn't separate the two. I returned when the owner's wife was working and brought just the ASP to the counter and asked if she could price it since there wasn't one on it. I think she sold it to me for around maybe $10. I still have that ASP in my collection too.
