Duke is a First-Sgt(E-8) Flint was a warrant officer which is usually a staff-nco first that gets commissioned. The First-Sgt is below the Sgt Major and has a lot of control over a batallion or company. Warrant officers are a part of a company(logistics or H.E.T. in my experiences), and usually are not overseeing a company or batallion. Yes warrant officers rate a salute, but usually a First-Sgt6 has more "power." Then again, I was a Marine and they were both Army.

I never had a big problem with Duke, but I always treated Flint as higher ranking than him anyway, since Flint was a Warrant Officer and Duke a sergeant. (It's my understanding that the Warrant Officers are generally considered higher in rank than NCOs but lower than an O-1)

Warrants are equivalent to their officer grades (w1-o1, w2-02, etc etc.), they are just not commanding officers like traditional company and field grade officers are, although they can take on commanding duties depending on the circumstances. They are officers that specialize in one specific area, usually technical. That is all they focus on and are considered experts in their fields.
Warrants can be pilots, boat commanders, network administrators, anything along those lines.

I gotta rock the boat a little with my choice: Snake eyes. To me he looked cool, and that was about it.
I never got why Larry Hama was so in love with this character. I like the military aspect of GI Joe, and I don't really feel all of the ninja stuff was necessary. He's a mute ninja with a gun. There's only so much character you can give a guy like that. And I personally don't care how many times he sword fights with another ninja. I think that he is best left as a side character. I didn't mind seeing this fan favorite get B@#ch smacked in the movie. |

I disliked that Snake-Eyes was used so much, and alot of the ninja aspects. Any Snake-Eyes ninja figure I dislike, except the first one (w/ Timber), that is still the coolest looking Snake-Eyes.
Thankfully, Chuck Dixon has said that Snake-Eyes will not be the central focus of the new Joe comic, as he agrees that Snake-Eyes works better as a character that appears now and then. Comes out of no where, kicks butt, goes away. That's what Snake Eyes should be.

I loved Snakes in the original Marvel run, but I'll happily let him take to the sidelines for a focus on other characters. He's had his day in the sun.

I hated Golobulus and Nemesis Enforcer even more than I hated Sgt. Slaughter and The Fridge. I did like Slaughter's Marauders though. they had some bad a$$ hibrid vehicles in that line-up! But those Cobra La a$$-clows sucked more than anything that had sucked before. Okay...Pythona was kinda cool I guess.

In the cartoon, it was Flint and Duke and usually any character that disrespected Shipwreck.
In the comics it was basically Snake-Eyes especially with the DDP version watering down his character. In both genre's for the bad guys, it had to be Serpentor, his shining moment was stopping an arrow with his head. |
