I was 10 in the sixth grade and the Operation Dragonfire series was airing after school. I saw a commercial for the new figures. From what I remember I saw Sub Zero? and I remember Night Creeper yelling ninja! So I went to the store and found a Night Creeper and when I got home I called one of my friends who also collected Joes to tell him that I got him. He got jealous that I got him first, so he spread the word that I still played with toys. That went over like a fart in church. Years later, he wanted to buy my Gung Ho Marine Dress Blues figure. Glad I kept it because I ended up becoming a Marine and it is one of my favorite figs.

Mine wasn't a figure, but a comic book. It was in the 9th grade (1985), and I went on a family trip and took some comic books to read on the trip in my backpack, and forgot to take them out when I went back to school.
It was history class. I opened the backpack to take out a school book, and when I did, GI Joe number three fell out. I remember several kids laughing at me when they saw the comic on the floor. I was so embarrassed, I wanted to die. BUT, I did the only thing I could do.......act cool, and started reading it during class while the teacher was lecturing. After class, a couple of other kids came up to me and told me that they collected comics too.

its not really embarrassing, but still a good story. Back in 1985, my mom got in a car accident with my sister and I in the car. She was injured pretty bad, my sister was fine, and I had minor injuries. Anyways, she sued and won, and they paid her a bunch of cash.
She took both my sister and I to TRU and told us to buy whatever we wanted. She gave us each a cart and sent us on our way. Well I headed straight to the Joe section and started piling in all the figures and vehicles I didn't have. Well right in the middle, an employee came over and started yelling at me asking me what I was doing. I told him I buying them, and he was like ' yeah right, put em back' I kept telling him and he wouldn't believe me, so I left the cart and went to get my mom. She came back with me and explained that I could get whatever I wanted. He just glared at me as I went about filling the cart some more. All in all I walked out with everything they had x1. I wish they would have had a FLAGG. I will never forget the look on the cashiers face either. Can you imagine a 10 yo and a 7 yo with an overflowing carriage coming up to the register? Best memory as a kid, followed closely by getting Jetfire for my b-day

yeah i cant remeber any stories of when i was younger but now a days a few of my good friends no i collect joes, i dont hide it or anything, if someone asks about it, i tell them yeah i collect gijoes, but occasionally when i meet a new girl or run into a girl i havnt talked to in a while some of my friends will try and pick on me if there with me and bring the subject up like yeah andy still plays with toys, and i will have to be like well yeah but they are worth money and i am a moc collector so i dont open them like i have to defend my dorkyness so the girl doesnt think im a loser. but most of the time girls never really care, they think its cute since i have my prioritys straight. but man some of these stories are priceless, thanks for sharing guys.
