i wrote a "what if" parody before like this placing boba fett vs snake eyes in a whole would win battle. something like that would be cool. han solo vs wild weasel in a dog fight, or jedi master luke vs storm shadow. as far as an epic battle i think the joes would beat the imperial army, navy on foot but not with motorized infantry or naval/air support. clone troopers are a different story. i think the military only thinking clones would obliterate the joes with superior tactics and less emotional baggage. imo. good topic though

I have amassed almost every vintage/modern STAR WARS and GI JOE toys. I love both lines equally. However, I usually do not mix them now days, but when I was a kid I had the AT-ATs attack the Terror Drome, stuns, and hiss tanks. Of course the X-Wings took out the Terror Drome since the exhaust port was the Firebat hatch. Good times!

I had a comic I made with CBC that had Mindbender building a device that warped time and space and plucked a Republic gunship and it's clone detachment into the Joe universe. The rift also dragged a Cyberman and Sontaran from the Who-niverse.

I've often thought about this crossover. Of course I find it highly unlikely, since the rights to the characters are owned by separate companies. It's for this reason we'll see things like Transformers vs G.I. Joe, and Indiana Jones meets Star Wars much sooner.
Still, if it's ever going to happen, don't you think it would more likely go something like this... Cobra's dangerous science experiment goes wrong and opens a dimensional portal. Meanwhile Joes have them surrounded and are closing in. Cobra decides to flee and escape through the portal. Later the Joe team decides the must follow them to bring them to justice. Upon going through the portal they discover that Cobra Commander has made some sort of alliance with Jabba the Hut. Jabba's mercenaries capture the Joe team. Cobra has promised to essentially sell the world to Jabba (as slaves or something) but first they have to stabilize the portal which requires them to steal hardware from the Empire. Jabba agrees to help Cobra and plans a joint raid on an Imperial Science facility. As the raiding party is leaving the Joe team escapes and steals a ship and starts to head after Cobra, despite the odds being against them. Along they way the bump into the Rebel fleet, and form an alliance. The Joe team and Rebel strike force (led by Luke, Han, and Chewie, maybe Lando and Leia) agree to work together to capture cobra, along with the hardware to stabilize the portal, and then destroy the Imperial science facility. It all culminates in a big battle on board the science facility. Depending how over the top you can handle the story going, Darth Vader and/or the Emperor may or may not be visiting the facility at the time that both raiding parties arrive. After the big battle Cobra is captured and the science facility is destroyed. They all go back and stabilize the portal enough to let them part ways and go back to their own universes. |

Stormtroopers and Cobra Vipers; Destro and Vader!
Okay, I agree that it wouldn't really work as a crossover, but I played with both as a kid and am into both today. Much more into Joes than Star Wars-- Joe/Cobra is more fun! I totally do want to do models that can, with modification, work as either a Joe background or a Star Wars setting: sandy terrain could be earth dessert or tatoonie, skyscraper and castle could be modified to be parts of the death star. I've never used a Joe action figure in a Star Wars diorama, but sometimes use human Star Wars people in my Joe story modeling. I give them different names, of course, but sometimes similar ones, just as an in-joke (I call Luke "Larry", Han "Harry", etc). And I do wonder if Destro was in part inspired by Vader. Great topic! That wouldn't even be a fair fight. Like a lightsaber couldn't take out a throwing star or nunchucks. The ninja kick is blocked by the power of the force. The fight would last 10 seconds tops!

That's why I kinda like Stargate, kinda reminds me of "GI Joe vs Star Wars". SG1 is Joe-like, traveling to other universes battling a Empire-like enemy in the Goa'uld . I use a Stargate model as the center piece, of when I feel like mixing my verses in little dio set-ups(Joe, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Transformers...).

Stargate, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, and Starship Troopers! Don't forget Aliens! All the flicks with machine guns and action remind me of GI JOE and vice versa!
