Chuckles walked in casually, bought a round of beer for the Cobra Troops, played cards and had a laugh. As he walked out they were all cheering his name. Then he flicked the switch on the detonator to all the explosives he had scattered around and walked away never looking back to watch the explosion.

My older brother and I both had what we called our "Do-everything-guy", meaning that we'd each pick a character that somehow related to us and use him as the central focal point in our game- sort of like personifying ourselves as that character and living through them during the battle, all other characters would be secondary and revolve around our "Do-everything-guy". For whatever reason, mine was ALWAYS Mainframe (an older kid that was mean lived next door to is who had more joes than us and my brother had me steal Mainframe from him one day, i didnt question him and always did what he said, lol) So I don't know why, but he was the one I chose and could always relate to. I played with him until he was ragged, snapped thumbs, snapped crotch, and loose floppy legs, but it was wonderful fun.

Duke was a 'against all odds' joe for me so was my '89 SE and in late '88 I was given half a OutBack? His thighs were crushed and I replaced his legs with a spare Hit & Run's.
I had also recently purchased the Special Missions comics where Stalker, QK, & Snow Job were captured and OB was there only hope. His 25th figure brings all of thoses adventures rushing back! Last edited by ponygt; 03-18-2012 at 01:05 PM.. |

Outback and Snake Eyes... always.
Though other Joes had their moments of glory as well. Hardball with that giant fucking grenade launcher. Spearhead & Max... just awesome. Barricade, he had bitchin' accessories and that cocky half smile. Sgt. Slaughter with the Warthog and Wild Card with the Mean Dog were never that far behind either. For some unkown (even to this day) reason Starduster, Chuckles and Crankcase lived off by themselves in the Pocket Patrol Pack (all the other Joes/Cobras lived in a shoe box), and were my "Special Ops" Team. So (usually when I remembered that I actually owned them) they would come in when things got rough for Outback and Snake Eyes...

Snake eyes and Flint were always my go to guys. My friends and I could not uses the same figure and SE was always my first
Pick. Setting up for the battle usually took longer than the battle itself and several joes (and cobras) never made it home after some battles ( literally, they were hidden so good we would forget them) SE never died, nor did SS...funny how that worked out. I usually sent Dusty and Beach Head in on the first wave, and the females always stayed behind (kinda like real life). Leadership stayed in the base and rarely saw action. Many Martial Arts moves occurred with each skirmish. Once killed you had to send someone into harms way to retrieve them...usually led to and ambush. Man I Miss the simple times...... |

I always went with Snake Eyes, Gung Ho, Stalker, Flint, Beachhead, and Roadblock. When I stopped playing with them around '87, that was still pretty much the core group. I used the Armadillo and the VAMP a lot, too.
