So this thread is dedicated to the outrages prices people pay for figures that just warm the pegs later on. Share things you have seen go for crazy prices only for you to find them on the pegs weeks later.
GI Joe: When vipers first hit my cousin put a lot of 3 on ebay and got well over $80 for them. Also put a couple complete wave 7 lots up too and i believe he got close to $100 for them. Batman: Saw people pay upwards of $100 for MM joker. Now they cant give them away. Last edited by HissCommander; 10-12-2008 at 10:46 PM.. |

not too concerned on high scalping prices..... more on supply.
i remember those Hiss Drivers (red) to be hard to find, and then they just flooded the pegs like 3 months later. even today, i still some Hiss Drivers warming the pegs like Wild Bill. same thing with the Joker fig. as i said in the past, wait for it and you'll get your fill. no need to sell your kidney to get your figs. i guess that doesn't really work for some.

$100 for clear wraith before mass release. (Jury is still out for this but lots of people are finding this pretty easy).

This happens all the time. I remember when the r2 & holo leia was going for $50-80 bucks. 6 months latter, this wave was dropped in the clearance bins at TRU. I bought a solid case of those things! By the way I paid $55 for my first one. This will continue to happen and just wait, the wraith will do the same thing. We might not see them in the clearance bin but they will level off.

I never worry about new figures, only the exclusives and variants because they usually hold their value even later. I'm still waiting for the SDCC CC Blue/Black figures to go down in price. Look at that pimp destro gold/silver figure from last year. He's still racking in the dough. I had a chance to buy him at regular price, but I thought he looked too cheezie. I guess I should've bought him anyway since he was an exclusive. People do some stupid things with their money. I'm just as guilty as the next guy when it comes to doing something stupid in life. We must try to learn from our mistakes. That's my two cents.

Back in the day, THE hot figure was the Harley Quinn from the animated series line.
Fetched big bank for some time, then dropped down to like 5 bucks MIP. but they was going for upwards of 40 bucks a pop. This clear Wraith is a variant in name only. And its hella ugly. like me.
