I'm scaling back because of the current economic situation. I was a completist of the single carded figures getting one of each Joe up to wave 9 - but now intend on being more selective. This applies to all of the Joe items - but I still want 2 each of the firebats and Skyhawks.

It has made me more selective and concentrate on what I really want in my collection which is re-issued vehicles and certain redone characters. I pace myself now buying those on my list only not just anything I happen to see available. This economy actually helped me refocus my collecting to what I really want and not just waste money.

It is interesting to hear that many are scaling back. I have never been a completest but I am an army builder. I fear not being able to find items due to stores closing. The Mall here in Lorain has lost so many shops as well as the closing a several of the local comic shops, so finding retail shops to purchase new items is becoming harder. It doesn't bode well to see so many placing closing as well as reading about yet another Factory closing.
I personally work as an instructor for the Lorain Board of MR/DD, so my job is safe. I have no money in stocks and my retirement is PERS so it is safe too. My partner is an engineer and should be safe for now too, "knock on wood", so my buying cash is not really an issue. I am just concerned that with so much down turn going on, collecting may become a luxury that many will no longer be able to afford. |

I'm pretty much cutting back as far as I can. I'm not buying any more single cards after wave 10 and 11. There's no way in hell I can afford it. The prices will only go up, and wave 12 is complete BS. I won't get any of those unless I have extra cash to spare. These prices are really screwing me over. I'm also done with the vehicles. I bought them and they do nothing but collect dust. I'll keep the ones I have, and not getting any of the rest. The only figures I want form waves 10 and 11 are, Para-viper, Mutt and junkyard, Wraith, Airborne, and Matt Trakker. I definitely want a few multiples of these figures, but I pretty much callin' it quits after these waves are done. The only things that look promising for me are the DVD packs and comic packs, cause you get more figures for less. I'm pretty sure I'll have to stop customizing even more than I already have. This F@*$#! economy and prices has gotten me really pissed off.

I can't give up now!
Instead, I shall give up everything else and live on dumpster bread and hose water. How many times a month can you sell plasma? I love you, Hasbro. I love you! :'(

I'm a college student and thankfully don't have stocks, 401ks, nest eggs; and I already live off of a minimum wage job. Everything is pretty much the same for me. Also, have gas prices gone down for anyone else? It's like 2.50 for a gallon now.

I will continue to collect until Hasbro goes under. I wish Hasbro's factory was in America so they could hire American's to make the figures. It would probably cost more per figure, but at least they'd be MADE IN THE USA!
