When I buy collections, it's due to people coming to me, asking me to take them off their hands, or they need money now.
Half the time, I don't need any of it, or could use some of it. But the fact is, they need money. So I tell them what I will pay for it. No one has to sell it to me for what I am offering to help. Not trying to be a cheap ass, just helping someone. A friend of mine was in need of money awhile back, something like $300. He offered up his Xbox, several games, a crapload of heroclix, his paintball gun, gas tanks (big ones) and some accessories. I bought it all for $400 as I felt I could get it back and keep the heroclix I wanted. I sold the xbox and games for a mere $50 at a game store. So now I was out $350. I decided to go ahead and sell the heroclix in hopes to recoup my money. I sold it piece by piece and made roughly $300. My friend called about a month later and asked if he could buy the paintball stuff back. It was an expensive gun that I could have gotten $200 for it. Sold it back for $100. So I made $50 and helped someone out. Had I paid full value for it, I would have been really screwed or my friend wouldn't have gotten the money he needed. |

In hind site I say around retail price because if your quite desperate you can take fifty dollars worth of stuff and return it to walmart 3 times a year without a receipt, and twice a year at target without a receipt. If its carded. So in one year you'd get back $250.00. Now then if need be too, you get current stuff and I hate saying this but pay cash for it, scalp it on EBAY, then take the old crap and return it with that receipt to target because they do not have item specific DCPI's. Now I don't condone these shady practices, but in these economic times I must advise one how to be shady. Say it was your 2 year olds birthday, or your car broke down, store credit at Target and Walmart could be used to purchase groceries, laundry detergent, lightbulbs, and toilet paper. It takes the burden off of daily living a bit.
I don't know what the hell I'm talking about but I'm sure I had a point and a reason somewhere, ... oh yes now I remember, if you need to sell and cheap-o's are low balling you go another route. Not calling you out either Ewok hunter, I am very frugal too. I've been pulling all sorts of stuff lately, Ex: I keep buying and returning the Big Millenium Falcon to keep my receipt current so when it goes on clearance I get my money back. 150 is just too damn expensive. And to those who say if its a problem to spend 150 on it then you shouldn't be buying toys, I say 2 things, I should ultimately get to decide what I want to spend, plus, it ain't anybody's damn business what I do and how I do it. If you want to be ripped on a huge piece of plastic that should only cost about 100.00 at best then go ahead, I want 50.00 off. |

I'd break up the set if I wanted to sell it. Most collectors already have a large or substantial portion of the line. I know if I had the vehicles I'd hate to have to buy and pay shipping for them...even if the final price was a good deal.

people dont seem to want anything but wave 10 and clear wraith anymore. I have a nice little lot (as seen in my sig) and all i get is people wanting to trade me Real Heroes Little Bird helicopters you get from Toys R Us for it. I have $300 worth of stuff for $230 shipped and noone wants it.
