Iv'e done a lot of research and came up with an obvious conclusion. It seems to me that over 80% of G.I.Joe fanatics are just as (if not more than) big Transformer Fans. Was this Hasbro's intent way back when both lines started. They really haven't been promoted as 'one' toy line, yet both lines seem to cross paths repeatedly. Or it could just be that these two 80's Iconic toy-lines were/are monsters in the industry of "boy's action toys."
Chances are when you were a kid and you are reading this you had a little of both, rarely, one or the other. Some of us Through the power of imagination combined the two ourselves. Why not? Joe's had kick-ass vehicles and Transformers always had humans around....the two mesh well. There were always speculations of who would ultimately win of course. Robots VS Earth's military or just plain old good guys VS. the bad guys. An even smaller percentage would have to include Star Wars fans in this mix as well. My first question to you the reader is this: There are Star-Wars Transformers toys. Heck, they even have Marvel Comic Transformers toys. Could Hasbro pull-off G.I.Joe Transformers toys? If so who or what would they be? perhaps a Hiss Tank that turns into a Cobra Officer. Or a Sky Striker that turns into Ace? |

If they made Joe/TF toys they should be TF's that turn into Joe Vehicles, not Joe Characters that are TFs.

Shin Gouki is right.
Joe and Cobra vehicles should transform into Transformer characters. I want to see a Onslaught HISS Tank, Skyfire Skystriker, Skywarp Raven, Hound VAMP, Wheeljack AWE Striker (AWE Striker cannon mounted on his shoulder), Powerglide SHARC, Warpath MOBAT, Thundercracker Rattler, Thrust Firebat, Blades Dragonfly and Trailbreaker as the Night Force Persuader. That would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Last edited by Bravestarr; 10-06-2008 at 12:55 AM.. |

GI Joe and Transformers actually share similar roots.
GI Joe influenced a japanese toy line called Henshin Cyborg in 1972. Joe style bodies with costumes and add on parts, etc. As time went on, the big stuff got too expensive, so they started making smaller versions of them called Microman (roughly 3 3/4"). Keeping most of the articulation from the Joe style and now being in a scale to produce lots of vehicles, etc... it was a success for a while. Among all their vehicles and such, were items and characters that could disguise themselves as everyday items (tape decks, pistols, etc). The Micromen, themselves, were billed as "Actual size" and they hid on earth pretending to be action figures. As it wound down, they started developing smaller guys (Diaclone) and smaller vehicles... vehicles and such that could turn into robots. These transforming toys eventually became the G1 Transformers (that's why so many of the early ones actually have opening cockpits and stuff... so you could fit your little Diaclone figure in there). It was around the same time Joe started coming out in the 3 3/4" scale, arguably influenced by the earlier Microman stuff (which was influenced by 12" Joe stuff). Of course, they were also influenced by the success of the Star Wars scale and such... but Transformers and GI Joe are all related behind the scenes. I'd much prefer a Crossover toy line to turn into vehicles/partners for the Joes, not the Joes themselves. Then you can still have both properties represented better. I don't think I'd buy them, myself, though. Maybe 1 or 2 if they deem to make my fave characters. |

Oh Yeah I actually meant that they would be original Joe and Cobra vehicles tuning into Joe character likenesses. IE Vader's TIE fighter turned into Vader!

Lets hope Hasbro won't shit on the Joe series with the Transformer idea, unless it's vehicles that 3-3/4 figures will fit in.
MARVEL...STAR WARS...what's next? Indy? Spoiler: Short Round transforms into a Short Round...

One thing is for sure, Hasbro and "Us" are co-dependant. We can't live without each other.
As for the combining Joes into transforming figures, this idea disturbs me! |

GI Joe transformers would make way more sense than Star Wars transformers.
