My first Joe was the original Scarlett (with swivel arm). I remember going to TRU with my grandfather and seeing a wall of Joes and being hypnotized by the packaging, they were so different then what I had seen before. So instead of a He-Man figure that day I decided to enter the World of GI Joe.
So I picked out Scarlett and I remember my grandfather saying are you sure you want this one, it's a girl. I said yeah, she has a cool weapon (Plus I always liked the redheads like Teela and Batgirl from the Adam West Batman). And since she was so inexpensive he said I can get something to go along with her so I got the watchtower as well. I only have a handful of my old joes left and Scarlett is one of those who survived. |

My first Joe toy was awesome, it was the Sears Missile Command playset with a (Mickey!) COBRA Commander, Soldier and Officer.
I still have the Mickey in C8, 7.5 shape and the poor Officer and Soldier, too, but they're not in very good condition. I think the base lasted maybe a week as a child. Cardboard+children=total destruction. I even have a photo of me on that Christmas morning with it. I also got that Dark Tower game that year, if anybody remembers that. |

My best friend in grade school was big into joes, and had all of them in the early 80's, i would play with his and he got me into them, i watched the cartoon but did'nt buy the toys until later.
My first joe was a first run Gung Ho. My first cobra was the arctic cobra trooper(don't remember if he had a name) the one with the white parka and ski.

my first joe was Gung-Ho. My father and I were in a old department store named HARTS. We were looking at star wars figures and spotted him. My father served in the Korean War for the Marine Corps. so it was a no brainer that GH was my first. All these years later I am still hooked on G.I. Joe and especialy GH.

My first Joes were straight arm Grunt, Stalker, and a Cobra Officer. I was staying at my Grandma's for a few days, and saw that very first G.I. Joe commercial and I was hooked! When we went into town the next day to get some Groceries etc, we stopped by the Fleet Farm hardware store and she bought me my first Joes for helping carry the bags. (Yes, back in those days we walked a mile or so from her house to mainstreet.)
A couple weeks later I bought Snake Eyes, a Cobra trooper, and a FLAK cannon. When I got my mail away Cobra Commander I thought my little Joe collection was compete. Boy was I wrong! |

Birthday 1984. Up until then it was He-Man and Hotwheels. I got Mutt and Junkyard, Recondo, Destro, Bludd, Baroness, Duke, Snow Job, and Blowtorch.
Then I took the money I had with my allowance the next week and bought Ripcord, Spirit, Scarlett, Stalker and Cover Girl w/Wolverine. It took me a little longer, but by Christmas I had Roadblock, Firefly, Stormy and Scrap Iron and Cutter. From there on out it was all downhill. Sab |
