| Totally thought of a brilliant movie plot!
(I know I'm not going to be pleased with the new Joe movie, so after watching the Revenge of Cobra DVD, I think what I came up with was better than what I think we'll get)
A pair of young brothers 17 or 18 develop a technology that Cobra thinks is dangerous.
G. I. Joe also wants to use their technology and go to visit the boys on the same day that Cobra is coming to kidnap them.
G. I. Joe gets one kid, cobra gets the other.
The story follows the story of these boys observing the way that Cobra and G. I. Joe behave respectively.
Effectivly, the tone is the a cross between the comic book and the cartoon. There are still wild and fantastical, with bright colors and outfits and crazy ships, but the dialogue would be modern, jokes would be in a similar tone but current, and the boys would be the "straight" character, always questioning or in disbelief of the things the Joes/Cobras did or the things they had. And maybe have a subplot where the boys have some gay good/bad side and they both kind of like the ideas they're getting from their respective Joe/Cobra affiliation. There'd be some awesomely corny like like: "You had a plane built to look like the head of a snake?" followed by some either cold or witty responses.
The constant action would be there, but more in the background.
The colors would be dim on the Cobra scenes, with Cobra Commander maybe taking more of a "let people do my bidding for me instead of always getting involved" and sitting alone in a badass office that everyone, ages 3-30 would envy. Cobra troopers would be real people. Real people with real lives and there would be a small part of the movie devoted to a view of their stories. Maybe the young boy on the Cobra side because good friends with a trooper (Scar, maybe, or a Fred) and they go into his backstory of how he learned about Cobra, how he got into it, all the fancy promises and shit - but now, there's some great reason that he can't ever leave Cobra. Like it's a mob kind of thing. Maybe have regular Vipers be there solely for the policing of Cobra. But don't get crazy with different Viper types. No ICE Viper and HEAT Viper and SAW Viper, etc. Just troopers, officers, Crimson Guard, B.A.T. and regular Vipers. Maybe two Iron Grenadiers who always follow Destro. Destro's helmet would be really tricky, but there would HAVE to be a way to find to do it to make sense and look as cool as the real Destro. Baroness would have a small part in the beginning of the movie - being the one who comes to abduct the boys in the beginning.
The G. I. Joe side would be extremely efficient and life-like. The look would say drama but the dialogue would be laid back. The Joes are happy and enjoy a good bit of fun. Think along the lines of "Sahara." They're fun guys, but they're also badasses when it comes down to it. That's why they're G. I. Joes. The girls would be as sexy as they're intended to be, but not in a "I'm a whore!" way, and more of the "I just genuinely look good because I take care of myself." Girls who are hot but can also really beat your ass. Again, that's why they're in G. I. joe.
Keep in mind - I have no idea about anything at all when it comes to movie direction or anything cinematic. I just got the Lady Jaye battle pack and watched the DVD and thought that parts of it would look REALLY cool in real life. |
