I think Cobra and Joe would fight to a draw exhasting both's resources. Then the Iron Grenadiers come in the picture and mops the floor with both of em.

If it was based on the cartoon....come on are you serious? Cobra would destroy them. They had things like the weather dominator, mass device, pyramid of darkness, what was supposed to be a brilliant hybrid of leaders Serpentor, etc. If this were real and the 'good guys' didn't have to win because it was a kids show, Cobra would DESTROY the GI Joes and dominate the world.

The joes will win for sure. Cobra have a lot of backstabbers in their roster like Baroness, Destro, Storm Shadow, Zartan and Major Bludd that made that organization very frail in the command level. With allies like that CC can't pretend to take over the world.

This is hard to say. Like someone else said it's hard to imagine Cobra actually existing in the way they are portrayed. Where are they getting all their stuff (Destro?) and how are they paying for it? Cobra is portrayed as a sort of sci-fi version of the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany but at the same time they are just a terrorist organization with no one country of origin. Al-Qaeda for example could never have an army of tanks and jets. Where would they house it all and how would they move it from nation to nation?
Anyhow one would think that the Joes could be backed up by the normal US Military (this happened in the comics) and as such it's difficult to imagine Cobra overtaking them. But if it came down to just Joes vs Cobras . . . I think they are evenly matched. Cobra would have greater numbers. There are like 300 or so Joes (not counting Green Shirts) and even people who see Cobra as a small group has to see them having at least 300 men. But the Joes are ultimately better trained. So I see 1 Joe being able to take as many as 5 Cobras alone in a showdown but since Cobra's numbers are so great it evens the playing field. That is of course unless the Joes launch the missiles (nukes?) from the Rolling thunder. |

In "real life"...no one would win, because the actual declaration of war between JOE and COBRA would be so sketchy, there would be hazy events and details skewed by the media, pointing fingers and making claims that made a clear winner virtually impossible to declare.
It would just be a messy never-ending series of conflicts in isolated pockets across the globe, forever. |

All depends on which side Storm Shadow is on!

For those of you talking numbers, you have to remember that G. I. Joe is just the Special Forces branches of the military(i.e.-Deltas, Rangers, SEALs, Force Recon, PJs, etc). Greenshirts are Special Forces trainees trying to make it as full fledge members. Then, you have to account for the regular military personnel outside of the SF branches. I'd say that the G. I. Joe team consists of about 200 members, Greenshirts add about 200 more trying to earn the few spots a year that are available, and then you have the hundreds of thousands of the regular military personnel.
