I have to open 'em, my roomate won't let me keep any of 'em on the card unless we have a double...he even took that Comic con Cobra in his business suit out! Argh! Personally I thought he looked better on the card...so if you can, I'd say to do it!

You guys remind me of Seinfeld's girlfriend.
Did you see the one where Jerry is dating this chick who has an apartment filled with toys? Jerry grabs the GI Joe SCUBA diver off the shelf, and insinuates that he wants to play with the action figure by going to the sink, filling it with water and starting Joe on his secret mission. The chick grabs it out of his hands, and carefully places it back onto the shelf. Jerry later asks George why a person would have an apartment filled with toys if you are not going to bother ENJOYING them as you are supposed to. |

open them, i don't play with mine, but looking at them is enjoyable. i love 'em. i was either going to give up my joes or my comics(i had every amazing spider-man from 1980 to june of this year). i chose to let the comics go. i kept them boxed up and put away. it was as though i didn't own them. the joes are displayed proudly.

unless you constantly play with them, open.
I opened about 5, and kept some from the comic packs when I wanted the comics, because I had the "urge" (of course they were doubles) but now they just sit around collecting dust, and I will probably sell them off one day....except for a couple. I am too old to have opened toys anymore. |

Never once did I say I collect as an investment....I'm not "comic book guy" from The Simpsons. I'm just a big kid like you.
I'd be lying if I said the temptation wasn't there to sell some of my rare figures that have value attached to them then open them. I won't because like everybody on this board it took me forever to find some of these guys at retail. i misinterpreted that line to mean you were hoping for a monetary return one day. sure, they just sit there and become dust-mongers once opened...but ive got to handle them and pose them. |

I would open every single one. To many collectors to hope they will be worth anything. If you want profit buy stocks/realistate/start a buisness. You never know what can happen tommorrow. A perfect example, the guy who got me my SDCC CC died a few weeks ago. He was only in his twenteys and no known health problems. (P.S. I didn't open the CC because of this, but its the only one) Live, Play, Enjoy for tommorrow we die.

this reminds me of an old episode of amazing stories where mark hamill finds a magic elf thing and wishes to be rich so the elf thing tells him to buy all this stuff, keep it untouched and by the time the story is done he is old and wants to kill himself for wasting his life with all this junk he collected... the twist at the end was that people love his old toys and collectables, they auction it off and he finally get his wish of being rich... you should watch it, it might help you make your decision...
personally i like my stuff moc, i have no plans to ever sell it but if for some reason down the road i need to, i can at least get my money back out of them or maybe down the road my grand kids might get them and tear them open or they might melt into a big old pile of plastic cause my house burned down... dont stress yourself out and just do what will make you happy |
