Poll: do you use other army toys along with your GI Joe toys?
I have always felt that it was almost blasphemy to include non-GI Joe toys with GI Joe toys. How do you all feel on this subject? Do you use other army type toys along with your GI Joe toys? If you do, do you leave them the way they are or paint and customize them to look like Cobra or GI Joe? I think if I see that a lot of people do it I might conceder doing it myself. At this time there isn’t that much GI Joe and Cobra vehicles out but there are a lot of other really cool looking army vehicles that are in the same scale as GI Joe. Whenever I see other makes of army toys I am always tempted to add them to my Joe collection. I personally would customize them if I got them. I think for Cobra I would paint them too look like the vehicles the cartoon always had but were never made into toys. They were almost always a kind of light gray/purple color. They were usually things like helicopters or jets. They were cool but were never actual GI Joe toys. |

I mix in other toys IF they need customized. I leave the bbi Elite Force stuff the way it is generally, and other stuff like Chap Mei or Lanard vehicles almost always get custom paint jobs.

They look really cool!
One problem I foresee with painting vehicles is that the special plastic paints seem to lack in variety of colors. |

I like the Power Team Elite stuff. The equipment is nice, the vehicles are well-detailed and best of all, it's really inexpensive. But, they all get customized, as most of my Hasbro vehicles do as well.
Most standard spray paints work fine on vehicles. Just use something like Krylon or Rustoleum, not the 97 cent Wal-Mart stuff. That stuff is a bit inconsistent in quality of adhesion. Last edited by Bamphalas; 09-14-2008 at 08:50 PM.. |

I leave the bbi stuff alone (way too cool, and expensive) it gives an air of realisim to the Joes wich I like. The cheap stuff gets the mods.

I like the non-weapon/vehicle accessories from the power team elite stuff. I recently purchased a lookout tower from the line and used it for my joes, also the barrels and crates they come with make nice display filler.

I wouldn't call it 'blasphemy' but I never do it, we have so many 'real' Joes there's really no need for 'em to intermingle with wannabes.
though I have begun to collect those C.O.R.P.S. figs, but I'd never mix them with...well anything else. |
