Some of my 80's vehicles need a good cleaning and I was looking for advice on the best way to clean them. Is there any thing other than water to clean them with that won't harm the plastic, stickers, etc?

i use warm water and a paint brush to clean mine. If its really bad i will put a little alcohol or goof off on it. You have to rinse that stuff off pretty good though.

I fill up the bathtub add a little had soap and i like to use a small soft tooth bruch. I might let it soak in the water a bit. Warm water is fine. Im sure your going to take it completely apart first.

I've usually only used a little water and soap. I wouldn't get much water on the stickers though. It can loosen them up. If you've got somethin' that is sticky and won't come off, use a bit of goof off or orange clean. The orange clean I'm talkin' about comes in a little bottle and is mainly citrus. Then use a soft tooth brush and some ear picks or cotton swabs. Maybe a can of air.

All of mine got stripped apart & washed in warm soapy water then dried off with towel. Had no problem with the stickers except on a swamp ski, they moved around abit while it was wet but still held fine after it dried.
Dont use anything too harsh or solvent based on plastic unless you want to devalue them fast. |
