Heh, I had Pac Man Colorforms AND GI Joe ones too!
My parents don't think super highly of my toy collections, even though I'm in my 30's, have a house, girlfriend etc. My mom has even gone on to say that she wonders if I buy them because I felt neglected as a child, which is total BS. I think one of the reasons I am such a completist especially with the 25th Joes is because of the imagination I had as a kid. I didn't have an army of anything, just a few random Joes, but having the imagination in place is what gave me such good memories as a kid, & is what has driven me as a responsible(somewhat!) adult to go out & fulfill that by getting 5 of all the army builders & every last figure & vehicle. I think if I had everything I "wanted" as a kid I would be less happy as an adult, & I definitely wouldn't appreciate the fact that I can go out and collect the things I want now. Good Story!

Dude! Colorforms were awesome! I totally had a nostalgia moment when I read your post. Those were the other times when my parents gave me stuff when it wasn't Christmas (my birthday is on Christmas so I got stuff all at once for both - forgot to mention that in my post above).
Anyway, I was sick in the hospital three times as a young kid with pneumonia and my parents bought me those to help pass the time while I was cooped up in the hospital bed all day. I had the GI Joe one, Flash Gordon, The Dukes of Hazzard and Snoopy (as I recall). I spent a lot of hours with those. Thanks for the past blast!!! Colorforms ruled, I had G.I. Joe (which I got on ebay a few months ago) a really cool Transformers one, Ninja Turtles, and a few others along the way.

Speechless. If you posed this challenge of using the imagination to these little bastards these days they would probably come back with: " Awe man, It's not a video game, I have to use WHAT? WTH is that?" LOL.

Here's hoping we can pass a little imagination on to our kids. So far at least my kid's (ages 4 and 2) favorite phrase is "I'm pretending..." this or that. They say it so often we often blow it off, but after re-reading this thread, I hope they never lose that ablility. That's something that cannot be bought, only fostered.

Holy crap! More cardboard ninjas just like me! Man...Saturday mornings...cartoons...a big bowl of cereal...cardboard boxes from the garage...the crappy pair of scissors ('cause if I used the good ones I'd get my ass kicked)...and about two rolls of tape!
WOW! I used to make EVERYTHING! Cardboard is responsible for my very first Rattler! And that sucker was great too! A little lop-sided and droopy in the middle, but it held together enough to fly my Cobra missions of bombing GI Joe's milk crate bases! I'm proud to say, however, that I've never lost my imagination and I can still pretend with the best of 'em. I have 4 kids and they're all the same way...my daughter can make ANYTHING out of a shoebox. She loves The Littlest Pet Shop and she's made so many homes and play facilities...and the thing is...she prints stuff off or will hand draw the backgrounds! Man...I NEVER did that when I was a kid. Just goes to show that there are a few kids left today who can still be happy with a few supplies and their imagination. Great story Viper.
