Name the one Joe (or Joes) that you've mentally imprinted on so strongly that any version of the same character that follows is totally "wrong" to you.
And not just one or two repaints/resculpts mind you. This is your "default Joe" for that particular character and it always will be. This is the figure that blinds you from pure nostalgia, 100%. I'll start. - Flint '85. Now I'm sure quite a few of you feel the same way. But he looks like pics of my grandpa when he was. . .Flint's age. So it's personal. I don't think they could ever do this one to my satisfaction again. - Ditto Footloose '85. For the same reason that he looks exactly like my late Uncle Jim. Imagine what that does to a kid's head when both figures to have this effect are released the same year. - Flash v.1. This was the first Joe I ever saw up close. Anyone in my collection with a Flash head has to have his face covered with a visor or image intensifiers, because they looked too much like Flash. Oddly enough, I never noticed that Short Fuse was the same head for many years. So to me they still appear 100% different, even standing next to one another. Okay, your turn. -PJ |

Hawk. Not so much the generic '82 head, but having blonde hair and looking as he did in the comics.
The arrival of Duke and his subsequent promotion to poster-boy for the cartoon era stole ALL of Hawk's thunder... so much so that for his first remake he had a completely different head of (brown) hair, and in the 'toons even black. The first Hawk that looked right to me was the comic 3 pack, and I'd call the new 2 pack Hawk my longest awaited figure. He was the first Joe I played with and the first one that I cared about. He was the third one that I owned shortly following Clutch and Stalker. Also, Stalker, Flint and Falcon only look right to me in a beret

85 snake eyes.....why can they not prefectly replicate this figure?? the new 25th is really close but just not the same (he;s gray!)
85 flint......the smirk still haunts me! also that figure just has an arrogant posture which perfectly defines the character. 85 alpine......one of the best head sculpts of the line IMO the VvsV version was laughably bad! 85 dusty......no soft goods helmet=no dusty no face camo=no dusty |

I remember when I was a kid I wanted a Duke sooo bad. I finally got the tiger striped Duke and I was so proud (we werent that well off, so having the leader run my small band of Joes was great to me!). Anyway, we had to move and I was playing with the next door neighbor kid one last time before we left...he decided to swipe my flagship piece...Duke. We had to leave before I knew it and never saw the kid or my figure again. Sad face 5000. Still miss that figure.
So getting Duke in the 25th line felt really good.

Eels never seemed right after v1. Also, Torpedo's original color scheme is fairly imprinted.
