I'm starting a new series of threads chronicling my G.I. JOE experience as a kid. This is the first edition, I'm mainly just going to share my experiences and thoughts on the toys I grew up on. First I will share a brief history with my G.I. JOE experience.
I got started into G.I. JOE at a very young age around 1985. It started from my cousin who was about 3 years older than me. I really looked up to him and he got me started into all my childhood obsessions like He-man, GI JOE, 8 bit NES and TMNT. The second influence and the biggest is by far my Father. He would watch the Cartoons with me, and even tape them for me on VHS. He would go on to hunt down the toys for me and down right spoiled me. Around 1990-1991 I started to "grow out" of my JOES. In reality I think the lack of a decent cartoon and the direction the toys were headed added to that. Also around that time I was into sports more than ever. Sometime around 96-97 I sold my whole collection at a garage sale. It consisted of over 300 figures and over 100 vehicles. I really really really regret doing that. Now I'm back into G.I. JOE. The 25th line gets all the credit here. I was online one day and stumbled on it. I then found Hisstank.com and joined. As much as I want to get back into collecting vintage Joes, I'm not. I will collect the entire 25th line and maybe more down the road. So what I'm going to do with this series of threads is share my memories and some great stories. I'm going to do it on here because I think some of you might enjoy it or do your own. The Sunbow cartoons influenced me the most. However I was also into the comics. I had around 60 comics, the hard part for me was finding them. It was hard for me to get 4-5 issues in a row. So I would often get issue 16 and then get issue 19. I would miss out of key parts of the current storyline. On this series I will mainly discuss the toys. If you guys don't enjoy it, please let me know. If it bothers people I won't do this. Now the 2nd edition will be coming soon. I will mainly discuss the Tiger Force. Last edited by Monkeywrench; 10-21-2007 at 11:30 AM.. |

Yes you can contribute! You have the entire Marvel run? How much would that cost to get from you? |
