I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but if you want to be taken seriously by Target, that letter just isn't going to do it. Sorry.
I haven't read the entire seven pages of response, so my apologies if this has been covered, but I also think you need to find out what their contractual situation with Hasbro is in regard to selling product online before you criticize it. It's very possible that they are not allowed to sell certain parts of the line online.
You have some good points, I just don't think you did a very good job presenting them. And the formatting is awful. Please take this as constructive criticism and not me trying to be a jerk. I've been published in a bunch of magazines and websites and it's just a pet peeve of mine to see stuff like this where you are writing something that you want people to take seriously without putting effort into it.
Just saying...

Just saying... | I'm assuming that you believe the person who wrote the letter is an adult and was born in this country.

Jusy saying.... | I always just kind of figured that Dallas (and Texas as a whole, for that matter) was a foreign country...
;-)
Please note the winky smiley face thing before attacking. I have family in Texas and... well... I'll just leave it at that (if you knew them you'd understand)

Jusy saying.... | Ignorance isn't an excuse. I would probably laugh at the letter before throwing it in the trash if it was sent to me. If you want to be taken seriously, be serious about what you're doing. Don't slap together a bunch of words and say "taddah, that'll learn em."

I wrote the letter on a whim and though it would make for an interesting topic to start a thread on. Some people thought it was a good idea and submitted suggestions to me. That's really about it. In no way is the letter finished and I'm deeply sorry if my grammar and sentence structure wasn't spot on. Not every one is as skilled as you my friend. I mean you've "been published in a bunch of magazines and websites" and I just tried to write a crummy letter to Target.
You’re the winner in the end. You rule.

And well, D-R-Go, you're highly defensive reply and follow up post make you sound like complete dick and even more ignorant. The man was just trying to give you some advice. I find it very sad that in today's world there are people in high level positions that have no clue about grammar or proper form.
It's the sign of a good education and intelligence.

Honestly, I believe that all efforts should be put on HASBRO. They are the ones that need to make a better deal with another retailer. I mean, we can't buy what is not on the shelves. Target raising their figure prices burned me. I am trying to wing a second generation "JOE" fan here, cryin out load!!!
If it wasn't for the Exclusives.....well use your imagination(s)!!!!!! |

Joe" on their web-site you get nothing on the toys... just books and DVDs.
So I wrote them an e-mail and here it is. Let me know if it's right on the money or if I'm over reacting!? I'll post their reply when I get it.
As advised I added a petition to sign so if you want to be added post "add me to petition" and put your name and city/state where your from. Thanks guys!!
This letter is in regards to the lack of G.I. Joe merchandise found in your stores as well as on your on-line web site. To be more specific I’m talking about the new 25th anniversary line of action figures and vehicles. I know it may seem “silly” to you to be complaining about toys but I should point out that I find it “silly” that your stores can’t show a fair representation of something simple as a toy line. My issues are as stated:
1. The lack of merchandise and variety found on your store pegs and shelves.
2. Your stores raised their prices on your single carded G.I. Joes by a dollar yet fail to offer a decent supply of merchandise.
3. The total lack of interest from your store associates about this products unavailability.
4. Little to none cooperation from store associates about when this product will be re-stocked.
5. Your on-line store has zero G.I. Joe action figures and vehicles featured on your web-site. This is very disturbing due to the fact that your company has “Target Exclusives” from this line.
6. When searching your on-line store on 9/04/08 for “G.I. Joe” the only things found are books, DVDs and party supplies.
I know these are just a handful of complaints but they stack up when they all involve a single toy line. I hope this issue is resolved in the future and I thank you for your time in reading this message.
Enclosed is a petition of name from Target customers experiencing the same issues discussed in the letter above:
Name/ City and State
T. Renick...............Dallas, TX.
Robin Caldwell......Tukwila, WA.
P. Dillon...............Temple, TX.
B.Shoquist..............Hurst, TX.
Michael...............Southern CA.
Eric Bright.............Tucson, AZ. | Brother, I will acknowledge that Target sucks for reneging on the 5 off 25 coupon deal.
I will also acknowledge that their prices of 7.99 a figure makes them a bunch of greedy bastards.
But one thing I cannot damn them on is the selection. I left a BAT, Flash and '82 Snake Eyes (all new cards, not silver foil cards) hanging the other day because he was 7.99 plus .72 cents in taxes makes him 8.71 USD.
I always buy BATs and HISS Driver, but 8.71 each?
Yeesh.
Anyway, I am sorry about your lack of selection.
The only advice I have for you is to shop online with one of the MANY reputable online sites for GI Joe.
I hope that you feel better, and that you enjoy your weekend. |
